Tbh this sort of attack would be preamble for Putin to change the 'special' operation to a 'counter-terror' operation (though they'd find any reason for that if they wanted, but typically they want to be in control of it)... so now I'm wondering if it was Putin who made an order for this to happen with the assumption that the bridge could handle it because hurrdurr superior Russian 'engineering' but having left the detail to whomever it was that might have carried it out then incompetently or competently tried to pull the rug from under Putin by making it far too potent.

Well that's my fanfiction anyway, hoping it was Ukraine.

... so if it was the lorry that exploded the driver waited until a train was adjacent ?
still seems more likely it was explosives on bridge detomated when train was adjacent, checking for absence of a civilian coach etc.
whether, that part of the bridge has, otherwise, some engineering weakness versus the rest ... deeper channel .... ?

A 1980s movie with Russians having a military exercise on a border and then invasion. Also the mass panic in supermarkets like covid. Never seen it before, but interesting so far.

The movie scared the bejeezus out of me when I watched when i was 7 back in 83, i was a nervous wreck for a few days after.

Well done for missing the point again - you can replace London in my post with any or all major western cities.

Just let me see if I understand you correctly - you're willing to sacrifice London (Say 6 Millon dead - 10 MT device) for a principle? Do you live in London?

Ever heard of the Blitz? Did we just let Mr Hitler overrun europe and keep what he illegally seized? War has consequences yes. But the consequences of letting megalomaniacs do whatever the hell they want are far greater.

The West has a delicate balancing act support Ukraine in opposing Russia but not let it escalate into WWIII. Thats the fine line we're treading but the consequences of doing nothing or doing everything are equally serious.

Is this exactly where the bomb went off or just where a piece of bridge fell off however? Quite a lot came off and I'm not likely to believe a Twitter conclusion outright.

And still doesn't rule out shaped charges on the supports. The truck just doesn't have the video evidence going for it.

Edit: also,
That just looks buckled. The same length either side of the pillars is down so likely it was at the pillar where it exploded.

GD Land Systems just released videos showing off their next gen tank.

They call it the "Abrams X"

It's lighter and requires 1 or 2 less crew to operate, it uses a hybrid engine resulting in 50% less fuel consumption and significant reduction in noise output. It's also using an AI targeting and enemy identification system and has some upgrades to the turret and it has a new 120mm gun

The explosion is weird - large but not hugely powerful, at least not in general release of energy, and has a lot of material in it - which appears to flow from the right hand side just off the bridge and a bit above it. A lot of smoke immediately flows underneath the bridge - not forced downwards and out like a truck bomb would have done - suggesting something exploded either underneath or to the side of it. The explosion is more typical of something exploding involving a lot of fuel but that normally produces darker smoke.

Possible it was a shaped charge with residual energy venting away from and upwards from the bridge then blown back in the wind.

Aussie news is going by Russias "truck bomb" caused it explanation:
