Still haven't seen anything to explain how a truck bomb laden with explosives managed to end up travelling on the bridge from Russia.

Seems very likely there are Ukrainian SOF/partisans/sympathisers etc.. operating in Russia. I mean there are a lot of Russian-speaking Ukrainians, Ukrainians with relatives in Russia etc. or who are living in Russia themselves.

Quite difficult for Russia as some other "Ukrainians" basically see themselves as ethnically Russian and are enlisted in the Russian army or Navy and indeed are seen by Russia as ethnically Russian... so the Russian-speaking Ukrainians loyal to Ukraine can fit into Russian society quite easily.

Putin's plane on the move east out of Moscow - bit of a strange hour for it. Doesn't seem to be heading for his known bunkers. I thought he was supposed to be in Kazakhstan already but seems to be the direction of travel.

I would have thought it was for the meeting with Erdogan.

His meetings in Kazakhstan were supposed to already be in process - maybe running late as a power play or something.
Hadn’t realised. Perhaps after the last few meetings where he was left alone waiting for others to turn up he is going to make sure that can’t happen again.

Russian news is currently reporting this story https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022...y-russian-soldiers-in-ukraine-istories-a79070

Citing internal government sources, its been leaked that Russia has already passed 90 thousand dead or missing soldiers.

Only 8 months into this war, the Russians have lost 6 times as many soldiers as they did in Afghanistan
Thats what over 50% greater than what the US lost in the entire Vietnam war (over an 8 year period). Hopefully the Russian people respond to this. They should not sit there idle waiting for more to die.

I think a big chunk of that number will be awol not dead.
Effectively the same thing - a loss of combat power. So whether a soldier is dead or missing in action it results in the same outcome when it comes to your fighting force

Almost certainly, but as Grim says they are in effect lost. Whilst some will manage returns to active duty many will be holed up doing everything they can in order to avoid doing so.
