$100 million dollars is 0.046% of his supposed net worth.

It's like someone who owns a £200,000 house outright, paying £96.
I am talking about the costs to whole supportive countries, not just one man.

But on a personal level it's his money and his company, so his decision where to draw the line. And lines there need to be. Privately and nationally.

Rich people often don't actually have that much in liquid funds - though Elon supposedly has around $3Bn in cash/immediately accessible wealth - probably only a couple of hundred million is money he could just throw about.

People love to hate on Musk if he helps or not, it's not his duty yet he's provided billions worth of networking equipment. But rather than him being good, he is now the bad guy. People have strange standards, I wonder how many people donate to Ukraine (or anything really) directly but will still judge Musk.

If you read up he never donated the stuff.

I found out the USA, UK Poland and a few other countries are paying towards it.
He now wants market price.
Ukrainian war was a good way to get to show what it can do.
It was just a marketing ploy for starlink. I guess he thought it would not have gone on so long.

He either cuts it now or takes the full path.

Not even close to that, about 10 million at most provided with the US gov picking p about 70% of that tab.
Hes getting called out for his Russia crap and is now suddenly telling them he's not wanting to play anymore now he's being investigated.
I cannot honestly think of a single time he has "helped". Every "help" is him either playing with clear stock manipulation or PR, PR that usually spectacularly ALWAYS backfires to show the world what a jackass he is.

It was helpful that he decided to subsidise the use of starlink in the first place, and he's within his rights to cut those subsidised services if he wants, but it reads a lot like an 'screw you guys, I'm going home' response to being called out for his terrible peace deal idea.

He's got plenty of form for that kind of thing too - like accusing that cave diver rescuer of being a paedo when he criticised Musk's submarine idea.

Could and may seem to be words redacted in this statement of yours ;)

There comes a time when the eye watering costs of servicing Ukraine's ever escalating demands needs careful consideration.
Not really.

He has thrown a tantrum, like the big Mardy bum baby he is.

That and his 'taiwan solution' followed by news of China ditching tax on his cars, he's out for himself, either money or making himself out to be some kind of saviour of mankind whilst not being.

Big bad Musk.

Guy spends a fortune helping, but because he doesn't do it 'the right way' then he's awful. So what if he's also helping himself?

We expect a lot from people we make rich, like they have a duty to serve us.

Might it not be considered somewhat unprofessional for a Ukrainian ambassador to tell Mr Musk to **** off over one of his suggestions? Especially saying it to a man with control over a communications system allegedly pretty much vital to the ambassadors own country's war effort?

Considering no longer financing all or any of the system for the benefit of Ukraine seems very restrained of Mr Musk, I'd have been tempted to turn the damned things off altogether. For a while or permanently. It may not be Mr Musk who is getting a bit too big for his boots here...

If how to finance it wasn't agreed originally why did he set it up?

Some people have criticised his numbers as well, consumers pay $100/month for it, but his estimated costs are much higher than that per station.

It just seems to me that the timing of this is a reaction to how people took his opinions on twitter.

Enabling this and then saying "need more money" is also quite a scummy tactic. It's basically getting them hooked on Starlink and then holding them to ransom.

Would not like to be the Russians on the receiving end of this. Stuff of absolute nightmares, the ZSU-23/4 used against ground troops. I imagine it's akin to being thrown into a wood chipper.

Yeah, being on the receiving end of two quad mounted 23mm machine guns is going to be a fun time. Unless you’re behind metres of earthworks or a T-72 hiding behind another T-72, you’re toast.

I have/do regularly and I will judge him.

And look at the exposure he got for all this, brilliant marketing for his products.

I give you Taiwan as a prime example of self serving.

I am sure the USA war department will have something to say about that and potential customers!!!!

The Russian looses seems to be increasing as we see another rise in men lost.

Be interesting to see how long a T-72 stands up to a quad ZSU-23 - some footage from earlier in the war various Russian armoured vehicles were getting trashed by 30mm cannons on Ukrainian BTR-4s, etc.
