Biden is relevant to this thread, he is in charge of the one country actually supplying Ukraine with enough arms to continue the fight - any other country could stop and it wouldn't actually make any difference, the US stops and Ukraine dies. He's also the main person who, other than Putin, who can ramp this conflict up or down.

Lets hope that the 30 Democrats that have signed a letter asking biden to do a deal with russia fails.

Come on now.
You bring another guy in to threads that involve America.
I bet you posted about him in this thread.

I've only mentioned him as the alternative to what we have now. And that alternative would have handed over Ukraine and this thread would be about the stories of horrific atrocities coming out of Ukraine while the West wrung its hands. I have plenty to say about Trump, I just put it in the Trump thread. Biden has been amazing for Ukraine and not even you can deny that.

It was withdrawn last night wasnt' it? Also was written back in June when things were different and was agreed not to be released as it's no longer their opinion. One person screwed up and released it.

So nuclear plant staff have said Russians have been there performing 'secret work'.
At the very least I imagine they're disabling systems to stop the reactors being easily restarted if... when that territory is taken back. I like to think they're not stupid enough to cause a (conventional, but very dirty) explosion so close, in weather terms, to Russia, but that "Thank goodness Russians are so stupid" meme probably extends way beyond the front line, and the people doing it probably live a very long way from Ukraine normally, so... goodness only knows what's going on.

I'm hoping that once this eventually settles down, Russia isn't rehabilitated into the international community any time soon. Change needs to be systematic... or they unite with China and we get this WW3 thing out of the way rather than fretting about it for the next few decades.

You did it. That is the point.
So don't knock other people.

The lefties are still going on about it.

"Chairwoman Pramila Jayapal said it was drafted "months ago" and that staff released it without it being "vetted".
"Ms Jayapal, a Washington state congresswoman, said on Tuesday that she still supported an end to the war "with diplomacy".

Two faced.

I don't think you understand what this would mean.....

The west cant afford for Ukraine to fall now, lots of contracts for rebuilding everything will be up for grabs when this is over, so our aid is not going to end.

Russia on the other hand are isolated and broken its only a matter of time for the red wall to fall again, the populace well at least middle class have had a taste for nice things.

Now if China could open a third front for a land grab that would be very intereasting :)

Yes because its a binary choice. Someone is criticising Biden but on the subject of this thread, Ukraine, Biden has been amazing. I notice you can't even acknowledge that or that your man would have just let Russia roll over Ukraine. I'll happily defend Biden on his handling of Ukraine even though I think he's too old to be president.

I grew up through the 70s & 80s under a steady background radiation of nuclear fretting. The good thing about Russia joining with China to unseat Western powers is that China is a way, way, way more pragmatic nation. Probably no less unsavoury by our liberal standards, but I trust them not to be stupid with mass nuclear deployment far more than I trust Russians.

But there is a WW3 coming at some point, based on dwindling resources and expanding populations. Which is why China and Russia are so active in Africa, knowing that in the long run the West will run out of easy places to fuel its economies. It's Ukraine's rich eastern resources that Russia invaded to control, so I'm sympathetic to the argument that WW3's already begun.

A lot of GOP members support stopping any further aid to Ukraine and some want to spend the money on building a southern border instead of Ukraine. They don't give too hoots about Ukraine. So what's worse? A couple of wayward Dems wanting back in June (when things were horrific for Ukraine) to have some kind of negotiated settlement or the gutless, selfish, clueless GOP? Anyway, you've supported what I said - it was drafted months ago and shouldn't have been released. Someone screwed up. It's not official government policy, it's not even more than a few Dems opinions when circumstances were different.

"lefties" in American politics. Bless.

Are you talking about the same China that sends minority to reeducation camps to be brainwashed and sterilised?

The last time China tried poking the hornets nest was back in 1969 when China conducted a special military operation near Manchuria and it very nearly ended up with both sides nuking each other. It was only a last minute diplomatic intervention by the US that calmed things down and limited the casualties to a few hundred on either side.

These days China is more likely to try and use it's soft power to medal with Russia and with the Russian economy being in a weekend state there vaulraunable to China's road and belt inecatives. Well they would be but now China's economy is on the ropes as well (not helped by the self inflicted damage done by it's zero covid policy) so who knows how this will end for them.
