NK puts cargo on train - that train goes on the longest single (timetabled) journey in the world - and arrives after a single journey in , russia.

In an interview with Turkish broadcaster ATV after Russia said it would resume participation in the Ukraine grain deal, Erdogan said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had changed his stance and was now saying common ground must be found with Putin.

I'd love to know what Russia has on German politicians. They're like scared children.

Germany are cowards. Despite getting shown to be idiots on Russia, they've just started selling assets to China and when asked why, they chancellor again pulled out the economic integration line - despite Russia showing that economic integration with dictators doesn't work he decided to try it again with China. At this stage Germany is like that old uncle who keeps talking about trickle down economics

All it will take will be a cold winter and the clamour for Ukraine to find an accomodation will intensify. Politicians are elected by the people and Germany has groups already opposed to arming Ukraine.

I’m going to take the statement with a large punch of salt.

I suspect German politicians are doing what is best for Germany, unlike our politicians. Germany has a greater exposure to damage due to oil but especially gas. You seem to forget(maybe because of your age) that we got stuffed in the 70's by Saudis(amongst others) and are back using them now. Nothing to do with cowards and other childish playground taunts.

But it's clear that it's not best in the long-term. It's incredibly isolationist as their neighbours and many current allies will shun them.

Their neighbours are in exactly the same boat(Austria etc) and will follow them. It will be like a dam bursting. Ukraine fatigue will only increase as time goes on especially with other cost of living expenses. Germany, Austria etc get colder winters than the UK.

Sacrificing short term gain for long term pain, typical policy for old men in power looking to screw the next generation

And yet they had no problems maxing out their gas storage. They are also currently using significantly less gas than usual.

That is OK for you to say but we are not as exposed to the oil and gas problem as the Europeans. You do not know what will happen in the long term so your post does not hold water. If you had said the same thing in the 70's about Saudi when we were getting screwed by them you would have been wrong as time has shown. I expect the same with Russia as Putin will not last that much longer.

This is their disaster planning in action. Getting the storage full, cutting usage of electricity by shutting off Govt building lights. In the news a couple of days ago they showed you they turned off fountains to save electricity.

Compare that to the UK just deciding to reopen the Rough field storage. Way behind the Europeans in planning and implementation.

But massively ahead in support for Ukraine. Not supporting despots.

Reducing aid or pushing for Ukraine to give uo territory would be such a short sighted move... Long term effects of encouraging aggressive invasions and associated threats, making Europe look weak and divided, and bolstering the Putin regime by allowing a grand success would surely outweigh some short term benefit of having cheap gas for a few more years. Particularly annoying to think about considering that this situation only came about because Putin presumably thought that's what Europe would do in the first place - just shrug, tell him off on TV, then continue relying on Russia for crucial imports and allowing Putin to do what he wanted.

Certainly been a bit eye opening to see how mainstream the pro-Russia politics are in places like Germany especially (given their huge influence in Europe), even if it's still only a minority.
