New British intelligence update out!

They can fix a bridge faster than we can.

I disagree with it being 30K of their best soldiers, maybe 30K of the best forces they are willing or able to commit - but people hugely underestimate how much it is representation from their best forces vs all composed of their best forces - they've not chucked like full division or army group strength from their elite guards divisions at Ukraine though they've expended many of the most experienced regiments, etc. from those divisions (many of which have taken 90% casualties). A large amount is meat grinder from essentially conscripts.

If you have taken out numerous trained soldiers at regimental levels then the capability at division level is significantly reduced, the battlegroups cant even function correctly, As you say its **** poor optimisation from the Russians and fantastic work by the Ukraine forces.

Its the beginning of the end now, Ukraine really need to push before winter sets in and we fall into a stalemate pattern which suits the Orc`s then it goes back to being in the middle.

As I see it, without a massive resupply of armour and trained operators, winter is a massive negative for the Russians - without the cold weather gear and supplies they'll have to hunker down in mostly static defensive positions, while Ukraine with better supplies and equipment to fight in the cold able to manoeuvre.

Bigger problem I think if Ukraine has a mostly muddy damp kind of winter as that will bog both sides down, potentially moving the war to the air with more limited ability to move air-defences around as needed.

Speaking of Kaliningrad a lot of eyes on it again today, even just what we can see publicly. Be interesting to know what they are and have been watching.

Well it *is* his right to ignore that and keep it secret. Modern views on rights mean that includes not being pressured to reveal or be influenced in that vote..

Back to ukraine.. (sorry ci_newman - posts crossed in the ether)

Looks like Russia were sick of getting their butts kicked and they will be retreating from Kherson to Crimea region to more established positions. Looks like they have just been attempting to hold the line long enough for some seriously heavy defensive lines they are constructing.

No idea how effective those will be, but UKR held bahmukh for months because of well established positions. I sincerely hope UKR haven't left it too long to be able to liberate Crimea.

Shut off the water supply then.

Russia might retreat from the town but not the Kherson region. There is no chance that the Ukraine army will be able to cross the river with the Russians on the east bank.
Talk of taking Crimea at this stage is just fantasy. It would need a complete collapse of the Russian army, and Russia in general, for that to happen.

That is a huge loss of face for Russia.
