Which is strange as US kit is currently in Estonia, where its as cold if not colder....

As Scougar touched on above I expect they've been given a lot of older/stripped down kit originating more from Middle Eastern/Afghan deployment, etc. and I can't say how widespread an issue it may or may not be - could just be the individual units in the videos.

EDIT: Though parts of Afghanistan can get very cold as well.

Why dosnt Ukraine push for Crimea now this in turn would draw troops away from Bakhmut to counter no?

A likely opposed crossing of both the Dnipro river and only a narrow land corridor to Crimea are serious considerations Ukraine likely just doesn't have the man power and equipment for right now - especially Crimea puts them more in the region Russia can project air-power against with less considerations.

What is heavy infantry?

Heavy Infantry - lets look at Croatia as an example :

You are looking at not only a mechanised infantry force with APC, but IFV, Armoured Infantry Support vehicles (mortar , air defence, C3 etc) along with heavy armour and logitics . Russia call it the Battalion Tactical Group, the UK call it the Battlegroup, the USA call it the Task Force - but the concept is the same. Take Medium (or regular) Infantry and up gun them. It breaks down, when situational awareness is lost of the battlefield and other assests cant be readily and easily called on (a lesson NATO has learnt since 1991 and the gulf war, but russia learnt last year).

Looking at the breakdown of kit heading to Ukraine - its all 20 years old + ; Bradleys are the M2A2 ODS (Operation Desert Storm) but can come with ERA . I must ask, what ERA was fitted to the Bradley? Its the misconception about this `aid` to Ukraine; its the west reotating out old stuff and using it as intended and actually field testing it for the replacements.

Would love to see a few troops of Chieftains mk11`s in Ukraine tbh. (Before anyone moans, after 1978 the engines were fixed)

I don't know much about the Cheiftains but weren't their off-road capabilities a bit lacking in the kind of terrain/conditions Ukraine is commonly fighting in?

IMO what Ukraine needs right now though is highly mobile artillery and anti-air platforms along with high mobility fighting vehicles which are very good at dealing with both muddy/waterlogged terrain and cold/frozen conditions and can recover other vehicles from such conditions. They've a decent amount of anti-tank capability when it comes to stabilising and/or holding the current situation but will need some decent tank capabilities when it comes to moving forward.

Only because the initial versions (and those seen in Iran) were both underpowered and unreliable. Once Exercise Totem Pole (fire control and eventually a thermal sight in the early 1980`s, and ability to use APFSDS ammo and a new barrel with muzzle reference system) and Exercise Sundance ( 5 years of engine work and improvements) ; the mk11 was a good tank

Soledar and the Bakhmut Industrial Zone are crazy - the Russians are literally scrambling over their own dead to just die the same way - unfortunately though they keep coming.
Probably scared of getting shot by their own side, or... Raped.
