No idea it come up in my Youtube recommended, seemed to explain in detail whats happening in Bakhmut area.

The truth is its a pretty dire situation for both sides Russia probably lost over 10k soldiers for months now trying to grind down to where they are now. Also Ukraine had a troop rotation about a month ago so I think this is possible sign of heavy losses aswell.

Well also they started the video with "Hello Comrades" lol seems to attract that kind of audience even if they're not.

I have a feeling Ukraine will retreat here and give up Soledar and potentially Bakhmut as well, but the reality is that probably both of these locations are now pounded into wrecks, if Ukraine gets a renewed push back the other way with reinforcements, they won't be easy to defend thanks to being partially reduced to rouble.

The MGS version that the US has fallen out of love with (out of service last year) might be a good addition to the UA. The main gun is capable vs the current Russian tank force plus its mobility means its a great Infantry support tool but there's issues over reliability etc.

It doesn't really have a role and as you say its requires far more maintenance, especially the gun system, than is worth it for what it delivers.

Darn, that's pretty impressive.

Its a hot round though and its DU. Tbh i dont think they will send DU rounds to Ukraine so it`ll either be very old stock M735 or more likely C76A1 / CMC105. Israel will pressure Germany not to send its DM63 for use on the gun , so 400mm pen at 2k is about the best they`ll get. Will make a T72 know its there though

Ukraine swapped out a heavy Infantry Regiment for a lighter armed air assault Regiment, and as with the VDV, the air assault unit doesnt have the firepower to deal with the reality on the ground, and ofc it takes time to reconstitute forces.

And this is before another few hundred thousand arrive. People may laugh at Russias ineptitude, but they have the numbers to cause a lot of pain.

When you don't value life, and you can send a million people to their deaths for one objective. They are choosing to throw lives away for objectives that just aren't necessary. They aren't defending their country, they just "want" ukraine to be theirs.

Most of the Ukrainian videos from Soledar are about 2 weeks old and don't match current weather, most of the Russian/pro-Russian videos purporting to show Ukrainian soldiers surrendering or dead are of DNR troops sometimes with 1-2 Ukrainians in there.

EDIT: Also several Russian videos purporting to show Russian troops in Soledar and/or explosions are from Syria a few years back.

Re Role: - In its current configuration it's a fast, quiet, hard hitting, low ground weight unit with lots of thermal/NV systems, good comms deck and an excellent BMS etc making it perfect for Armoured Cav/Reconnaissance (very similar to the AMX-10RCR the French are sending) so I could see a role for it there. The rub would be that, should Ukraine want it "if" it was offered (based on something is better than nothing), would the US agree to send them in their current all singing/dancing config or, more likely, or would they strip most of the "cool electronics" out (comms/BMS etc) for risk of them falling into Russian hands, making them less worthwhile to Ukraine in the end?

This isn't something thats going to stand and fight pitched battles against hordes of Russian tanks, thats not what it designed for, but converting it to be a sneaky recon truck means its got some good utilisation available.

One of the issues I've seen, especially with the US supplied stuff, it struggles with the temperatures Ukraine is starting to deal with and it can get colder still. Though I suspect a lot of hardware would suffer the same other than the older more basic stuff. Seen videos where they've got the vehicle started but the advanced electronics suites are just all flickering lights and constantly restarting, etc.

Going to be interesting for Russians when very extreme cold / snow comes how all these conscripts and that deal with frostbite and vehicle failures.

Im wondering if Ukraine waiting for this now.

Which is strange as US kit is currently in Estonia, where its as cold if not colder....

Which is a little weird given the US has massive areas of severe cold in the USA. I Guess it might be more planned for where combat was expected at the time of development?
