Soledar is pretty much gone really, Russians managed to flank into positions giving them a superior firing situation like 24 hours ago now. I don't know whether Russia can sustain the gains though - been a lot of troop rotation/repositioning and some are saying they've basically thrown everything they have in reserve to make the current gains.

Regardless Ukraine needs lots of self-propelled artillery and anti-air to stay on top of the situation around Bakhmut - obviously lots of training and logistic considerations, etc. but they need a load of AHS Krab, Gepards, etc.

I'd be quite on board with that... Give them free reign to get worked up together and say what they really think, enough rope and all that...

My hope would be that it would be revealing enough that they'd never be listened to by anyone ever again, but that hasn't worked to date even for those with history like Galloway,so probably wouldn't achieve anything good.

Sadly doesn't really work - Farage for instance has had more than enough rope to hang himself and still some poor fools are convinced by him.
 
Pretty stunned what a bunch of morons. No to war? They would rather be licking boots than have any sort of moral compass. Some people clearly have zero clue on how the world really works, or intentionally act like it is another way. Did they learn nothing from playground bullies and how things work in life? Good god.

Bit of a mess with Soledar, possibly due to having intelligence of such, Russia seems to have initiated a big push as the regular defenders from the 93rd Mech rotated out for the 46th Airmobile Brigade, which are in a transitional stage with soldiers swapping in and out for training in the UK and moving from Soviet hardware to newer Western hardware. This has put Ukrainian forces in the area including the 17th Tank Brigade on the back foot. Though they don't lack determination I think the 46th are too lightly armed for the job at hand and the 17th Tank are going to have to regroup and reorganise from a better position.

Ultimately though Soledar and the other movements to the north of Bakhmut seems to be somewhat a diversionary attack intended to pull forces away from Bakhmut so Russian forces can make more progress through the Industrial Zone.

EDIT: Interesting note from militaryland in that respect:

It’s actually surprising to see elements of Ukrainian Marine Brigades to be deployed to Donbas, instead of for example in the direction of Melitopol or keeping them in the area of Kherson for a possible offensive across the Dnipro river. The large influx of Ukrainian units to Donbas from Kherson indicates that the Ukrainian command doesn’t plan any offensive operation across Dnipro anytime soon.

Thing is some forms of democratic socialism can work, the Nordic countries have proven that for decades. That isn't what those people want though. Sadly people like them and Farage get elected to the EU because people don't take voting seriously. I wish we had a system like Australia where voting is compulsory, it would help the EU as well.

There is decades of evidence that Galloway is an appalling person, yet he still attracts support.

I put it down to mindless "rebel without a cause" posturing. It must be mindless, as a moment's thought would expose his nonsense positions.

The only good thing about Galloway is you can always rely on the opposite of what he says being true. He is reliable in that regard.

The MGS version that the US has fallen out of love with (out of service last year) might be a good addition to the UA. The main gun is capable vs the current Russian tank force plus its mobility means its a great Infantry support tool but there's issues over reliability etc.

Truth of the matter is that Ukraine seem outmatched near Bakhmut, no denying that they are on the back foot however.

The cost of this push might be high on both sides, I do wonder if Ukraine will pull back into more defensible positions rather than trying to hold on, don't want to risk an encirclement.
 
No idea it come up in my Youtube recommended, seemed to explain in detail whats happening in Bakhmut area.

The truth is its a pretty dire situation for both sides Russia probably lost over 10k soldiers for months now trying to grind down to where they are now. Also Ukraine had a troop rotation about a month ago so I think this is possible sign of heavy losses aswell.
