Yeah can you imagine the frothing of certain elements if Germany had the largest military in Europe
Especially if that was mainly tanks
I think all NATO (and many other) countries have probably had a bit of a wake up call however in regards spending on defence

Only the U.K. got anywhere near reaching her agreed NATO spending in recent years.
The NATO strategy is each member nation has to contribute 2% of their GDP to defence which Germany isn't doing either.

Nope
Although there are some concerns about the UK classifying certain expenditures as defence as well.
Germany whilst down on their percentage spend almost the same as the UK in $ and expected to jump quite well ahead of us within a few years (unless UK does up spending %). France isn't far behind either.

The alliance expects each member nation to spend at least 2% of its gross domestic product on defence, but plenty are falling short.
It sounds like they don't even have that.

It’s a guideline isn’t it? Voluntary target rather than a rule?
