Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

Ukraine are not defending now. Russia will not give up them East regions they are mostly in control of now.

You want to risk nuclear Armageddon for a few regions that wanted to be Pro Russian anyway? Pretty fair considering Ukraine peed them off by overthrowing their own government.

What do you mean not defending now? How else can you describe it? If you buy into shotgun wedding annexations then do you suddenly turn the table and call it attacking?

By the way I don't know if you're any good with maps but Russia has lost a lot more territory they did control in the last few months than any recent minor gains in Bakhmut/Soledar would make up for. Kharkiv oblast and Kherson on one side of the river are fairly notable losses.

Also wanted to be pro-Russian regions by whose account? Russias? How can you trust anything they say? If they really wanted to be Russian they could just move there instead of staying, and it's common knowledge they're Russian backed separatists not some organic split.

Its pretty simple.
  • Berlin wall falls - NATO promise I quote "Not One Inch" will we expand eastwards.
  • Lets Welcome Estonia, Latvia and Romania to NATO !!
  • Lets overthrow the elected government of Ukraine in a coup sponsored by the West and install a pro EU administration. Lets also demote the Russian language.
  • Conflicts start in 2014, Russia take Crimea
  • Minsk agreement never honoured. ( who knows who was bombing who, too much misinformation You couldn't rule out Ukraine been the instigator to draw in where we are now, this I don't know )

Oh it seems the U.S have installed a missile defence system in Romania. I'm sure that went down well also.

Show me the actual quote on NATO expansion please.

I was going to say the same, that line gets wheeled out but I've never seen anything official on it. Edit - I checked and there is nothing legally binding written to this effect, if it was ever discussed it would be hearsay only, nothing appears recorded.

Also elected Ukraine gov was Russian installed as far as I know, I'm not an expert on this but wasn't the elected guy majorly corrupt and was found to have been embezzling funds for personal gain? It seems more Russia was annoyed that it's puppet government was removed.

LPR and DPR are both clearly Russian client states with their backing and ownership, these "republics" are nothing more than flimsy excuses to gain a foothold and use it to climb more later, which is what we're seeing now.

Even if I took at face value that the majority of the people here truly, really, wanted to be Russian, it doesn't excuse Russia using sham-referendums to annex two additional regions it has zero claim to ownership of, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

Hence the sum of all of this is that Russia is just using the Imperialism cassus belli and none of the above matters to it, smoke and mirrors attempting to mask the real reason, which is gaining territory and resources.

There is a delicate balance there - if Ukraine starts wrecking Russia on home soil then Russia will have little choice but to declare war and fully mobilise which isn't something Ukraine is ready for.

Stuff like launch sites, etc. Russia can hardly complain as they've not officially declared war.

Putin has no plans for not winning and is partly mobilising all the military can handle bit by bit, and will end up fully mobilised regardless.

You know that rubles are basically worthless now, right?

This post is truly, impressively wrong.
  • There is and has never been anything legally stopping NATO expanding. It was never part of a treaty, and any such oral promises were made prior to the dissolution of the Soviet Union which obviously had a huge impact on the security situation in Europe (actually even that oral promises were made, or that the matter was discussed at all formally is not certain). Gorbachev was quoted as having said he believes countries should be free to ally as they see fit. This claim of betrayal is just a Russian attempt to spin half truths as justification for their actions. Are you surprised that countries bordering Russia feel the need to join a security bloc?
  • The west did not sponsor a coup in Ukraine, that is crazy talk. The president of Ukraine backtracked on pre-election promises for closer integration with the EU. People rioted, violence happened and the president was removed by his parliament. Not everyone in Ukraine was happy about this, but the majority appear to have been given the platform he was elected on and subsequent elections. A democratic election was held (excepting areas controlled by Russia, where free elections aren't really a thing ;)) and Poroshenko was elected. He served his term and was replaced by Zelenskyy in 2019.
  • Conflicts happened in 2014 yes. Funny how you neglect to mention that these conflicts consisted of Russia unilaterally annexing Crimea and supplying 'separatists' i.e. Russian servicemen to stir up trouble in the east
  • Minsk 1: Both sides quickly broke the agreement
  • Minsk 2: Russia argued that it was not a party to the deal and therefore not bound by it (lol). Everyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that regular Russian troops were present in the east actively fighting Ukraine, so how can any kind of agreement ever work under these conditions? Farce.
  • Your last point about Ukraine possibly being the instigator of breaking the agreement in order to get us to where we are now is so ******* off the wall insane I half thought I was having a stoke when I read it

This is something else that's just straight wrong. It's a myth that the majority of people living the east are Russian. 3X% of people there identify/identified (unsure if that stat is pre conflict) as ethnic Russian, with 7X% being native Russian speakers. Neither of these things imply those people are pro-Russian and want to be a part of Russia. I can give you an anecdote: I have a co-worker who is from Kharkiv, somewhere Russian shills would insist is pro-Russian in need of liberation. Her first language is Russian. She despises Russia. Her friends, family etc (all Russian speakers/ethnic Russians) despise Russia.

Even now there is no conclusive support inside those eastern regions to become part of Russia, and that's 8 years after the conflict started, when you'd imagine anyone who wants to be part of Ukraine would have left. That should say a lot.

Full of iodine isn’t it?
Not nearly enough though to get a sufficient dose to ward off the effects of radiation on the thyroid. By my admittedly poor math, I think you would require ~43kg of seaweed to reach the recommended dosage of Iodine (130mg for an adult per day)...
