Ukraine's claims accord pretty well with estimates from third parties, though, so I don't think they're too outlandish.

I still chuckle that some people believe AFU losses are higher than RFU's. If they were, RFU would be steamrolling Ukraine right now.
Bottomline is, that losses are going to be devastating on both sides. I hope this is over soon with Russian fully retreating to their own legal territory (i.e. leave donbas, lunhansk, Crimea etc ). I doubt it will be happening any time soon though unless AFU is going to make a big push.

Whichever estimate you take it’s still hugely embarrassing for the Russians.
I'd love to sit here and mock Russia, it's just that they have the largest amount of nuclear weapons on Earth and we're sat here actively involving ourselves in a conflict we really have no business being involved in.

Even if any of their nukes actually work (exhibit A - the state of the rest of their armed forces) they’re not going to use them. Everyone in the Kremlin, Putin included, know they’d get wiped off the face off the planet within days of doing so.

It's so weird people want a conflict with Russia. We should be trying our best to find a peaceful solution. A nuclear war would set humanity back 100 years and kill probably at least 1 billion people. I support Ukraine but that is absolutely not a price worth paying. Ukraine isn't a part of NATO or even the EU, we have no business there. I ******* hate Russia by the way, it's a complete gangster state.

I don't think anyone wants a conflict with russia.
The problem is you can only go for a peaceful solution is all parties are honestly willing to talk about it and reach an agreement.
At the moment Russia won't even admit they've invaded a foreign country and are jailing anyone they can who says otherwise, so it's kind of hard to get them to agree to actual meaningful talks, and even then they're not going to want to give up any of the land they've taken in this invasion let alone the last one, and the Ukrainians quite rightly aren't going to be happy with letting Russia have any land inside their borders, especially after Russia has spent the last year gleefully killing civilians and committing pretty much every warcrime there is apart from the use of chemical weapons (if nothing else the Ukrainians are going to want a full accounting of every single child that Russia "rescued").

Which the MAD doctrine prevents her from using against the very people she needs to use them against.
We have every business being involved, firstly Ukraine asked us to get involved, secondly because Ukraine has indicated that she desires NATO membership, and thirdly because war in Europe affects us whether we like it or not.
