Probably because an incredible amount of their population are unbelievable poor, and their country has seen fit to basically bloody ignore it. Not defending it, I actually think we shouldn't be funding them any more, much like China shouldn't be getting cheap postal rates any more.
Firstly, because we looted billions from their country in the near past, and secondly because a very large proportion of the poorest people on Earth live there.

On the first point, i'm sure their scam call centres have more than made up for it.
On the second, that's their problem. There's enough wealth in the country to solve it.

Don't think of it as aid, it's more like a bribe to get lucrative deals, that the British public don't benefit from but corporations and party donors likely will
If it’s a Russian fighter and a Ukrainian drone, why didn't the plane just shoot it down?

I have some contentious opinions, and appreciate that this war is sensitive, emotional and for many something with frightening prospects, but for others an opportuinity to seemingly celebrate the death and destruction of fellow men.
I appreciate the support for my right to express those opinions though, in fact i am very moved by it and thank those who have stuck their heads above the trenches to facilitate this. Sorry for any hassle... No worries about any personal attacks, I can shrug that sort of thing off, no bother
