Can't post here cause the tweet contains video of combat but Ukraine's armed forces have awarded the gold star (also known as a golden combat merit) medal to Ruslan aka "Predator" - the guy who took out a Russian APC and dismounted infantry assault on his trench, his friend who was also in the trench was reloading guns and finding ammunition for him while Ruslan kept unloading on the charging Russians - Ruslan fired 3 RPGs, threw 3 grenades and fired multiple clips of ammunition from 3 different assault rifles and one LMG and he was able to destroy the Russian armoured assault without getting injured himself

That footage was crazy!

This website claims France is going to send 40 Mirage2000 jets to Ukraine. These jets were intended for sale to UAE and now France wants them for Ukraine

Be interesting to see how MBDA shares fare in the coming months, don't they make the Exocet? RIP Russian Navy? lol

I dunno why there is all this messing about with jets, sure it takes time and money but the best option for Ukraine would be something with capability to be operated and maintained with minimal facilities, able to mount stuff like the latest US/NATO missiles and backed up with relatively small and fast AWACS with similar short take off and low maintenance.

The time, money and effort is better spent at the moment IMO providing capable high mobility SPAAG systems and sensors/radar, developing anti-drone systems both man portable against the likes of DJI stuff as well as systems for protecting against the bigger ones.

Ukraine doesn't need to be in the air to take apart Russian ground forces - they just need to be able to deny hostile use of the air to protect the assets which are doing the job - especially if their hands are tied in terms of going after the launch sites, etc.

Do the T54s?/T60S/T72s?

T64BV from mid 1980`s came with ERA bricks, similar time to the T72B getting them. T55 MV also added Kontakt-1 bricks and slat armour (again in the mid 1980`s) Most T54 are pretty much T55 nowadays anyway, there isnt a lot between the 2 anyway

Russian tanks generally haven't survived well in Ukraine including with ERA (or "ERA") fitted compared to Syria, etc. I've seen a few videos of T-72B3s fully kitted in Ukraine taking more than half a dozen hits from RPGs and Javelins, etc. to kill them but most just seem to fair badly from a single hit. In Syria, etc. wasn't uncommon for them to survive 1-2 hits due to ERA and be able to retreat with relatively minimal damage. Albeit in Ukraine a lot of Russian tanks have been lost to mines and artillery.

It is interesting to see the difference in response from those countries who've first hand experience of Russian oppression, even relatively long time ago now, and those without. They know the truths when it comes to the current Russian government and what they believe in and how far they'd go if they were able to.

For anyone who actually believes this is anything other than an illegal land grab - i would remind you that Russia signed this:

And agreed to :

  1. Respect the signatory's independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.
  2. Refrain from the threat or the use of force against the signatory.
  3. Refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by the signatory of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.
  4. Seek immediate Security Council action to provide assistance to the signatory if they "should become a victim of an act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear weapons are used".
  5. Refrain from the use of nuclear arms against the signatory.
  6. Consult with one another if questions arise regarding those commitments
Even China has given security assurances - http://www.gov.cn/gongbao/shuju/1994/gwyb199429.pdf ; but this is broken as well - https://blog.ucsusa.org/gregory-kulacki/chinas-broken-promise-to-ukraine/
