Putin was told that it is impossible to build the flagship nuclear-powered icebreaker "Russia" on time because Shoygu bombed the plant in Ukraine

"Rosneft" is disrupting the construction deadline for the flagship nuclear-powered icebreaker, scheduled for December 2027, which has already been reported to the Kremlin. The cost of the state contract may increase by 60%.

The "EnergoMashSpetsStal" plant in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, is supposed to supply large hull components for the icebreaker. But Russia bombed this plant last May and happily reported on it.

One thing Russia never fails at is scoring own goals :s

I think ironically just like people over estimated Russia in Feb 22, they're now under estimating them, since that Kharkiv region counter offensive it seems Russia has learned quite a few lessons, yes their offensive tactics are archaic and laughable but defensively they are in a decent state now and well dug in pretty much everywhere considering they've been defending against a force supplied by basically the whole of Europe and US so another offensive is going to be bloody for Ukraine (and Russia) even with the better tanks they're going to be able to start fielding

Let’s be honest, the counter offensive was successful as much in part due to the Russian tactical retreat as it was the Ukrainian push. Russia will be tough to kick out now and the cost will be high for both sides. I guess it depends now on how effectively Ukraine have been building up during this defensive period and how much they’ve softened up the Russian side in the meantime.

Yeah, preventing Russia's advance will be much easier than removing Russia from Ukraine. Unfortunately there's no point holding a UN vote, because Russia will use her veto power to kill any proposal in the UNSC, and China will likely support her.

That remains to be seen, Ukraine has only made probing attacks so far.

No, just a Photoshop.

Saw five of these things trundling about on Salisbury plain some years back. Intimidating things. I certainly would not want to be in front of the pointy end.

Russia loves to beat the drum. They can only be trying to scare the average person in public, since the military are more than aware of what they have and can do with them. When will Putin ever learn that scare tactics only work so far and if you push it too far the public will push back?

Putin is fundamentally a chicken. He threatens, but we all know it's all about him, not the glory of Russia. If push came to shove he would not launch an attack if he felt he was going to die in the retaliation.

AP Exclusive Interview W/ Zelenskyy

Ukrainians now hate Russia. It doesn't matter if Putin wins in the short term, he can not suppress the people of Ukraine forever. Once people have the desire for independance it usually only goes one way.

I think at some point Putin will declare he's 'liberated' all the land he needs to 'liberate', and fortify the stolen territory with a substantial military force. Ukraine will have no chance of getting it back.

I dont understand why he thinks it is scary.

Ok, well done, you can instigate an event that will mean the end of us all. Big woop. **** or get off the pot.

Some years ago I started cycling to work (about 10 miles). I lived on Dartmoor and wasn't entirely sure of the way as it was pretty much all country roads and shortcut cycling paths etc. I stopped to try and get a sense of direction to a cycle path acces point just down from Shaugh Prior. Then over the bridge came about 40 to 60 marines on a group run from 42 Commando.

This twig like idiot (me) asked them the way, and I never felt so bloody small lol. I was so intimidated. I had lived in Plymouth for the majority of my life, my Dad worked on the naval base, drove past the barracks many times and I know a few marines, but at that moment I felt utterly pathetic LOL.

In a previous job I went on a run with some guys from the military with full kit including rifle (about 37kg or something total I forget now) - thought I was doing well to keep up with them at the end (think it was what is called an 8 mile tab or something) - turns out it was only the beginning LOL. Fortunately I was under no obligation to do the rest.

This was in ~29C heat in July as well I was totally dead by the end.

Russia has no clue what it's getting itself into should NATO actually get involved.
