I think if we just said, its military's exercise, everyone would have just forgot about it and never asked in first place.

Plus doesn't NATO conduct exercises with 50K+ personnel quite often? Like the Trident juncture in 2018 in Norway (Which borders Russia mind you).

Considering that NATO is supreme tech to Russia. That 50K personnel is probably equivalent to 300-400K of Russian Ivans with stick and stones.

Ok man, in the context of a Russia that recently annexed part of Ukraine nothing they are doing is concerning and we should just all be quiet and bury our heads in the sand.

Did I say that? You asked what would happen if we dumped 50K forces around Ireland. I responded. How is that related to Russia.

Crimeans voted to be independent from Ukraine they are pretty much Russian. Ukraine is still Ukraine and this has got to be the longest drawn out invasion in history. 8 years and counting. It coming soon though guys…Right.

What are you talking about?! They've completely encircled Ukraine, not the west. They don't have ships loitering in the North sea, they've moved them all to the Black sea. They haven't moved units up to the borders of Finland or Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The troops in Belarus are on the Ukraine border, not Polands.
If it's just training, as you suggest, you tell me what they are practicing for then? If it was a defensive operation from the west then they just failed as they haven't trained against any Nato border. Whoopsie. Or is Ukraine in a position to suddenly invade Russia and Belarus? I guess they must be! Better train for that scenario!
Also, better build lots of field hospitals for all the pretend casualties we'll have 'training'. :rolleyes:

Also, those countries joined Nato, a defensive organisation, they weren't forced in. Given what's happening (and happened in Georgia) they clearly made a prudent choice.

So if me and my mates show up with a box of grenades each and surround your house, that's fine? As long as we don't actually enter your property or throw one it's all fine we're not doing anything wrong?

You can be flippant all you want but pointing at a referendum result made and counted by an occupying country as proof that it's actually ok is... mental. Oh and over 14k people have lost their lives in those 8 years. So suggesting nothing much has happened is also mental.

It may never happen, really hope it doesn't. That doesn't mean there's no threat of invasion and there was nothing to worry about. It's certainly not a training exercise.

Why can't it be just a training exercise? A good invasion needs plenty of exercise. Plus on top of that, I've linked pages before - this whole panic hysteria has achieved many goals for Putin.

Invasion may come but perhaps not now.

All the above and including Syria and Libya - were all on proven good grounds and intentions. We were giving these people democracy. Russia is just invading cause they are evil. It is not the same.

Well, erm, exactly? A lot of people died that didn't need to. An exponentially larger number could die here. Or should Russia get a free pass because the west made a mess in Iraq?
