Well during normal times, it's whatever. But now it just adds even more tension and fire. Considering the separatists in Donbass would benefit from the war quite frankly.
It was done to death in the Middle East it was hard to work out who were actually rebels or who were us backed rebels ect.

If you look at Putin's old party "United Russia" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Russia

Figures:

Seems United Russia is pretty focused on whatever Putin wants.. hence I suspect Putin will simply announce that he's invading and they will all stand to attention, clap and salute. It appears Putin is going to war.

Perhaps they’ve found some “WMD’s” :p.

I suspect that the Ukraine military will feed the initial brunt, then once the US and allies have taken stock of the situation they will respond. The US is never first to a fight, it prefers to be sitting in the wings observing and planning the use of their toys.

The Russians are doing precisely what they did in WW2, the US too - China will be the interesting variable.

What are you even talking about. We said point blank, NATO/US/UK are NOT putting troops in Ukraine to fight Russians. It was said by Bj and Biden. Budapest Memo is dead.

I think this explains its well on why Ukraine cannot join NATO.

Russia says NATO, the American-led alliance that has on its hands the biggest European crisis in decades, must never offer membership to Ukraine, which gained independence as the Soviet Union broke apart about 30 years ago. Ukraine has long aspired to join NATO, but the alliance is not about to offer an invitation, due in part to Ukraine’s official corruption, shortcomings in its defense establishment, and its lack of control over its international borders.

WHAT ARE UKRAINE’S PROSPECTS FOR JOINING NATO?

The prospects are extremely unlikely for the foreseeable future.

Although Ukraine has no membership offer from NATO, it has drawn closer to the alliance over time, starting with the establishment in 1997 of a NATO-Ukraine Charter to further develop cooperation.

NATO heads of government did publicly declare in 2008 that Ukraine, and its fellow former Soviet republic Georgia, “will become members of NATO.” They did not say when or how, but the statement could be seen as explaining Moscow’s concern that Kyiv eventually will join the alliance.

On the other hand, the U.S. and other NATO leaders who signed the 2008 statement about Ukraine and Georgia decided against giving them what is known as a Membership Action Plan — a pathway to eventual membership. Germany and France strongly opposed moving Ukraine toward membership and the broader view within NATO was that Ukraine would have to complete far-reaching government reforms before becoming a candidate for membership.

This seeming contradiction has never been resolved, which means that while NATO’s door is open, Ukraine won’t fit through anytime soon.

Russia essentially are the reason Hilter was defeated in WW2. It took the largest toll on both its own people and the German army. Was never taught that in school for some reason though.

I hope things don’t escalate but the US should really be keeping out of it. They have had there hands in pretty much every single conflict post WW2.

Boris, the minister of truth. Truss has said we "stand with Ukraine" or is that impotent cheerleading?

The reality is - the NATO troops will sit creating a backstop. True. The toys are sanctions and economic actions.

Ok forget Boris, you decide to trust Truss instead? Jesus. Yes, its impotent cheerleading. Do you really need to even ask.

Forget about UK then all together. So Biden saying there will be no conflict between Russian and American soldiers in Ukraine as that would create WW3 is horse manure too? He said specifically, we're not getting involved in this war directly.

They won't even rescue their own people let alone Ukranians.

US and UK already pulled every single soldier out of Ukraine.

Standing by Ukraine means hitting Russia with sanctions. We aren't going to be firing on Russian troops , US has already pulled their troops out and said they aren't risking them being around in Ukraine when Russia invades.

A brutal russian winter curbed the German advance. At that time they had people but the allies supplied a considerable amount of technology and supplies. Now it's different - they have technology and supplies.

War is a sad state of affairs.

Surely accepting Ukraine will never join nato. Is worth it for preventing this invasion?

Feels like we are a little bit closer to war every day currently

No country shuld ever give up nukes in exchange for security assurances again.

The security assurances are obviously meaningless.

The NATO troops create a backstop in the nato countries preventing any further 'invasions'. Plenty of other options - sanctions, reduction of trade - that doesn't mean we start shooting at anybody.

That is for Ukraine & NATO to decide.

I agree. And definitely shouldn't give in to bullying. But if we aren't going to help out now I'm not sure there's a sensible reason for Ukraine not to agree.

Russia, such a waste of a country that could have and should have been a utopia with all. Its resources.
