Anything could trigger it. Really. We have no idea if putin really wants war or not.

Isn't that basically all it comes down to?

It's heavily rumoured ZeroHedge is Russian/GRU backed, so i would take anything from there with a massive pinch of salt.

It's a blog started by Serbian banker if I remember well. It's not really journalism. I read it often but it is essentially daily mail of finance blogs. Pinch of salt is not enough. 99% of it is just hysteria about government and impending collapse of everything. It's fun to read though.

Not the sort of movie standoff with "Do you feel lucky? Punk?".

In seriousness, I think it's irrespective of the communications but instead it's the ideology and conservative vision driving the "make russia great" and "get back lost boarders". With that drive it simply means people are looking to bend anything said to enable tactics and achieve their strategic goals. It's driven by a attitude of "who is the toughest leads". The biggest toughest bully leads - and if they're insecure or need restate their toughness then they spoil for a fight.

It means that Putin is feeling insecure given that in 2018 a NATO report stated that China replaced Russia as the number one threat. Now he's attempting to restate his toughness to stand shoulder to shoulder with US, China and to a certain point the EU. Putin lost internal credibility hence the PR with China and the spat with the US.

For me the fear is Russia begins to fall away over time and becomes a very dangerous cornered animal.

Who knows what could happen

The eu is not a force in the same league. It's NATO not the eu, just look at the EU's response " look have some helmets"

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the emergence of new "dates of Russia's invasion" and panic are working against Ukraine and causing losses.

The head of state stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports. Source: https://censor.net/ua/n3316880

Well without Biden chiming the death knoll of invasion dates, the reality would always be present until Russia either invades or sends all the troops back home. The art of leaving the state unknown and the resulting effect in demotivating.

Russia plays the mind game to prevent loosing troops in larger numbers - it's been a core point of war for many years.

I see we've got manned UK missions in the skies of Ukraine while the US seems to be staying away with manned missions of late.
