Ukraine get fees on it and it is because of that gas pipeline that the US/Germans are delaying Nordstream 2.
So it would not be in ukraines interest for it to go up either.
Russia wants Nord Stream 2 to be approved so that they can bypass Ukraine transit fees. It is in Russia's interest for the pipeline going through Ukraine not to work.

He wants to say its so unstable that he needs to step in and provide security.
And with so many troops on the border, if Ukraine army try to stop them he can they say he heeds to invade through to kiev.

Hordes of people were screaming that the US and the UK were exaggerating the threat. The invasion isn’t going to happen and they are trying to use it to take the scrutiny off their failures at home.

I mean I do not think these events were supposed to justify an invasion. I think the most likely scenario is that they were arranged by Russia/Separatists. To what end, well we will see.
I'm shocked that they would be so dishonest!
