It's amazing how just one day after Russian banned the purchase of foreign currency all the propagandists are on TV saying the central bank is a failure and they are not doing their job

Something tells me the rich are unhappy they can't as easily smuggle out their ill gotten gains

* And 80 people are listed as missing

Damage to surrounding area:

Officially Russia still does not admit that the factory was storing or producing artillery ammunition. They claim the explosion is from fireworks and the owner of the factory has been arrested

Might make sense as it took months to get Storm Shadow working with the SU24, might be a similar issues with Taurus. As for ATACMS it should be a lot quicker given Ukraine's current equipment.

Now will they announce it or will it be like Storm Shadow and the first the Russians know about it is when things start exploding.

For most military things given to Ukraine so far (after the initial rush pre-invasion), its better for something to "suddenly happen" without giving the enemy time to prepare vs the media "win" of announcing its arrival before its first use.

Won't be seeing F16s in Ukraine for a long time

Once training starts, it apparently starts with a 4 months theory and English course, followed by 6 months of practical flight and combat training

Apart from the English lessons it makes sense, although I wonder if they're more keen on longer training given the lack of immediate success with the ground based NATO weapons Ukraine has been using with only a few months training, although I don't think training is the issue, unless they're being trained on tactics used in Iraq/Afghanistan vs tactics against a relative equal in technology and equipment which are miles apart

Some things around Moscow have mysteriously started spontaneously combusting. Who's to say they haven't got it already.

I think they're stalling until the war is over and Ukraine is close to / a member of NATO. Russia would love to shoot down / capture an F16 down - even if just for the propaganda.

With the promise of F16's as a long term replacement for Russian made planes, they can start to using their existing stocks, and donated Migs for higher risk operational missions.

There are lots of English 4th Gen+ military "avionics"* terminology which has no direct translation as such. Even speaking English as a native speaker isn't really enough to understand what these specific terms mean when you get into "how" the avionics, weapons etc systems on an F-16 work. Hell I've been doing this professionally for 30+ years and still have to go to "school" just to keep up with how rapidly 4th Gen+ and 5th Gen avionics changes and a lot of 4th Gen+ aircraft (F-16C/Typhoon/Gripen/F-18/F-22/F-35/F-15E etc) initial training is just explaining these what these new terms are to pilots who can already "fly" but haven't yet experienced 4th Gen+ avionics.

As an example, the "unclassified" pilots handbook for a new aircraft like the F-35 etc would be well over 3000 pages long, with the "classified" version nearly doubling that size, and that sort of book would be filled with several hundred new terms, abbreviations, acronyms that the pilots need to not just memorise the term, but understand what avionics function that term carries out, just to be able to "use" the aircraft fully, rather than simply "fly" the aircraft.

A poor equivalency (can't think of a better one) would be dropping someone from the 1980's, whose only driven say a 1986 Ford Escort, into a Tesla Model X Plaid and only giving them a few days training to memorise all of the infotainment settings and functions, after which they have to use every function perfectly or else there's a high chance that they die. I mean both cars have a radio, electric windows and a steering wheel and they're effectively "just a car" so it should be a simple task right?

Thats probably the closest example I can give for the absolute leap these Ukrainians will be undertaking as their Su-27's, and especially their MiG-29's, are still classed as 3rd Gen aircraft for their avionics and the leap to Western 4th Gen+ avionics and its use is a huge one.

* - Avionics from Wiki is "the electronic systems used on aircraft. Avionic systems include communications, navigation, the display and management of multiple systems, and the hundreds of systems that are fitted to aircraft to perform individual functions."

Is that all the Russians have? Nuke threats?

Not forgetting the threat steal all our washing machines and toilets.

Its just more BS from Russia with an aim to cause some sort of panic, should our at sea nuclear deterrent sub(s) lose coms with home you can bet some of the pre determined targets for our warheads will be in Russia.
