To be honest, it’s to be expected. If the West continues to be sluggish in handing weapons over to Ukraine, expect more attacks on Moscow.
I'm continually impressed by Zelenskyy's steadfast commitment to anti-corruption even through such difficult times. Not everyone wants to die for their country it seems.

Ukraine fires military conscription officials for taking bribes
Officials took cash and cryptocurrency and helped people to leave Ukraine, President Zelensky says.www.bbc.co.uk
I genuinely feel the amount of people that would try to avoid military conscription by all means would pale in comparison.
Different times! The mental fortitude of the newer generation leaves much to be desired.History indicates otherwise, especially of the upper classes.
Can't see there ever again being conscription in this country. If we get attacked then it quickly escalates to nuclear and everybody dies. That's the whole point of having nukes, I think.I'm continually impressed by Zelenskyy's steadfast commitment to anti-corruption even through such difficult times.
I'm not surprised though, especially those in privileged positions will always strive to avoid real hardship and situations of hardship and risk.
I can only imagine how pathetic and embarrassing it would be if Britain were put in a similar position. I genuinely feel the amount of people that would try to avoid military conscription by all means would pale in comparison.

Never say never! The next couple of decades at least will be increasingly volatile. We need to be comfortable with the new normal of unrest and instability. A perpertual state of proxy conflicts and state actor influenced regional instabilities will be the norm. Conscription whilst not currently needed may not be a constant. Can't see there ever again being conscription in this country. That's what I was getting at. "Everybody dies" - i.e. there are no winners. Aka deterrence. The whole point is never to use them.
If we are attacked, NATO kicks in.

You may be right, but I'm also optimistic that our opinions are swayed by a particularly noisy feckless minority. When it comes to it, the silent majorly would rise to the occasion.I can only imagine how pathetic and embarrassing it would be if Britain were put in a similar position. Sadly nukes arnt the only answer. I think what has been proven is that Having nukes is a get out of jail card to wreak havoc on the world stage with no real answer. China will see this and USA will learn from it. In a strange way its almost had the opposite effect it was intended to have...That's what I was getting at. I hope you are right! Maybe I just have a rather jaded and pessimistic viewpoint. You may be right, but I'm also optimistic that our opinions are swayed by a particularly noisy feckless minority. When it comes to it, the silent majorly would rise to the occasion.
It was intended to stop nuclear armed countries from being attacked. It's done that, so far.Sadly nukes arnt the only answer. A general population that can't be mobilised to go off and fight in some far-away war isn't a bad thing.I hope you are right! Maybe I just have a rather jaded and pessimistic viewpoint.
I imagine that if the West was facing total annihilation, they would not want China to be the last man standing. Although that is just a hunch. Might also be true for Russia, also.No winners? Apart from China, India, most of Asia, and South America, you mean. Mainly China.
Very much is a bad thing, I'd rather be the **** kicker if I'm being honest. Thats the kind of attitude we need to get rid of. Until we as a species is prepared to go on that journey together, human nature is human nature, dosnt matter how much we try, we keep reverting to form, and we need to be ahead of the curve unless as a nation we want to be just a moment in history.Maybe the pacifists get their arse kicked by the warmongers, but it doesn't make the pacifist the bad guys, ultimately. Just means we're a pathetic species that never learns.
