Does he have any credible opposition? Any rivals are likely to find themselves falling out of the upstairs windows of tall buildings or finding something nasty in their soup, or smeared on their door handles. Not that any of these james bond style lets-take-him-out fantasies that that people like to indulge in are remotely likely to happen.

Taking out putin would create a huge power vacuum and so much infighting that Russia would be out of the global game for years.

It would be easier to simply kidnap him and then maintain the story "There is no evidence he is dead, he must have gone on holiday". That would leave a power vacuum but with chaotic accept and denial making it far harder for the country to stand behind demonising a common enemy.

Got to think this is going to happen fairly soon regardless, rumours of his ill health in the last year or two, possibly being treated for cancer which would explain his fear of covid. Certainly doesn't look like there's an accession plan in place.

This actually reminds me of a train ride last year from Tarragona to Valencia. I missed the high speed train so had to take a local crappy one that takes about 4 hours. Two big Russian (speaking) guys got on sitting a couple of seats in front of me. Late 30s (possibly early 40s) load of tattoos, one carrying a small backpack the other just a bum bag.

One smoked his e-cigarette despite it being against the rules and regularly removed his mask which has various skulls and cross bones on. The other took a bunch of phone calls.

Oddly they didn't seem to know where/when to get off and got a little confused when the train passed Valencia before then arching back up there.

I found it strange, as it definitely wasn't two guys you'd just expect to be on holiday, or even sit together for 4 hours.
 
So far nothing of note apart from an increase in shelling and troop readiness at contact points
 
That drone focusing on Kharkiv Ive personally been thinking if it does kick off Russia will go for this city seeing quite a big build up across in Belgorod on social media.

Thats the NATO one, looks like they are stacking ISR platforms, FORTE hasnt been up for long, unless it has a problem it wont be due swapping out till the morning. They must be expecting to have plenty to look at tonight I guess.
They often have a couple different platforms up, but I've yet to see two RQ-4's up at once.

I saw the column of T80-U tanks in Belgorod, be interesting to see how they fare given their age.
