Seems to be tacticool for an antidrone infantry
Thats a monstrosity! This makes carrying ECM Blue look light. If it works though I guess its not stupid. Wouldnt want to be the lad carrying that though, prime target No1 for Ukr Snipers.

What could possibly go wrong from wearing likely extreme frequency equipment at close range for extended periods?
We did it repeatedly for extended periods of time in Afghanistan. I'd like to say it didnt effect me. Well at least it didnt fry my swimmers...

With high frequency jammers? Didn't know we did that. Good info.

I cant go into any specific detail, its been a while but the specifics are probably still technically secret. But yes all foot patrols, and vehicles had ECM covering multiple freq/bandwidths to combat remote IED's. Drones wernt a threat there but the principle is the same. This isnt new tech and it can be VERY effective, I will caveat that with "if its done right" something I dont have any faith Russia is capable of.

Country that can't even source enough NVG equipment will surely source enough of these for their meatstick units.

What is even the range on these things? Isn't it kind of pointless if the drone already has an attack vector?

For a static object yeah probably unless the drone has some sort of auto loss of command system, where it goes into hover/orbit/return to home mode etc I'm not sure what the systems they are using, or how they would be effected.
For a moving object like a patrol, could be the difference between minor injuries/major injuries/death. regardless if its in a terminal phase or not.
I'm not sure range is as much an issue as battery life on those things
I think this would be the huge limiting factor for usefulness, especially in the trenches/forward reaches of the front line. its not like they are working out of FOB's/CP's with free access to charging facilities. I suspect even if this stuff is fielded it will be to elite units or even just used in static positions to cover high ranking officers etc.

I don't think it's so bad for static positions like trenches, you could use larger batteries and have some on rotation with solar recharging, the issue is for infantry they can only carry so much before they're ineffective

Do we have 20k troops to spare ?

The French gendarmerie would like to speak to two tourists who may have information regarding this incident.

 seriously?
But yeah easily. Assuming thats going to be tri service. Although thats still a lot of people. I do wonder how many are deployed currently over the Eastern European border countries. Will likely equate to what is effectively going to be a Div at least, 1/5-1/4 of our actual deployable forces. Yes, as an armed forces we are very busy and more and more increasingly so. Yeah we have a lot of operational commitments, though the actual deployed numbers isnt massive. The turn over does tend to involve the same rotations of people over and over. When we say we are always busy, from my experience a lot of our commitments are for the most part training. That dosnt take away from the fact we seem to be busier now with less people than any time in the last 20 years at least

Shame, I'd love to get involved, but my current role dosnt really leave much opportunity for these kind of deployments.
