US sanctions too
Looks like all that Russian hardware has started crossing over the border that no longer exists
Those are very toothless sanctions. Again, its not like anyone was allowed to trade with Crimea, DNR and LNR previously. Its like calling Kettle a .... KETTLE.
Nothing has changed.
I hope this is de-escalation. I assume this was discussed behind doors and agreed before, we're just seeing dong waving for public. Once again, if everything stops here - everyone comes out with a piece of a win.
Stop kidding yourself with all this de-escalation and off ramp rhetoric. It’s a significant escalation whether you like it or not. Those are very toothless sanctions. Again, its not like anyone was allowed to trade with Crimea, DNR and LNR previously. Its like calling Kettle a .... KETTLE.

I agree they appear to be quite weak sanctions at this stage, but this is not a de-escalation.

Braced. It’s going to kick off now.US sanctions too

How anyone can't see this as escalation is beyond me...
I just saw these and was going to post them MC130 J linked with Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).

Read the full text, it says these are in addition to sanctions should Russia invade further, apparently the troops roll in tonight to those recognised regions, it's in the US and EU court whether that counts as further invasion
What are you talking about? We had years upon years declaring from Ukraine/USA/NATO/UK that there is active Russian military's already in DNR and LNR!!!
Russia always denied being in there though
This time they won't deny because they're supporting recognised states and are in there under invite
We do not care they denied being there. We even sanctioned them for being there. The point still stands, this changes NOTHING per se.
But it does. Making this 'official' when you're on the brink of invading a country is a very reckless move.
It draws out some initial sanctions, and it taunts the Ukraine military into attacking the Russians.
