there is a critical mass for such things, more just makes no sense. i dont think having over 150,000 troops and associated equipment and logistics is the critical mass. proabbly somewhere between 50,000-75,000 is sufficient considering how well equipped russias are compared with Ukrainians.

Probably realised that everything Putin told them over the last month was an outright lie and decided that it was too much.
Yeah, I do wonder what we are going to do. Cancelling the end of nuclear and investing in increased capacity would be the obvious solution but there's not a snowballs chance in hell of that with the Greens in coalition. And they haven't really got long to get on top of it: things should be good until next Winter, since Germany has pretty healthy gas resolves and demand will fall as temperatures rise, but that only gives about six months to find and implement a solution.

The most interesting is the US blocking the clearing of the dollar. Essentially Russia couldn't trade using the dollar, so instead would have to use other options. The reason this is interesting is that it's something the US can do without needing to impact the euro-zone (unlike SWIFT).

USA blacklisting them would be much more effective. Vlad's effectively forgotten that his country depends on a currency belonging to one of the superpowers. Stop Russia's access to the USD and they're in deep trouble.
Looks impressive though, I suddenly have an urge to vote for Tories, I can't even remember that they are/were being financed by Russian oligarchs, it just completely got wiped from my memory after seeing our great leader pierce Russian defences with his silver tongue
