Evan Gershkovich is an actual journalist. He's currently being held hostage in Russia. Anna Politkovskaya was a proper ******* journalist, who bravely reported on the Chechen Wars, she had her brains blown out on Putin's birthday.

Even whilst my wife was in Ukraine/Russia, journalists that spoke out on Russia would routinely end up without a head.

No but in fairness Joe Biden stuck to his word on making Saudi Arabia a Pariah state after they murdered that Journalist


There's so much hypocrisy and lies it's just a complete joke that we attempt to take any sort of moral high ground. If so many young lives weren't being lost in Ukraine the whole thing could be a comedy show. How the US attempts to talk down to nations while backing Israel in it's genocide of retribution and being in bed with the Saudis for cheap oil, the irony of Edward Snowden taking refuge in Russia for reporting US war crimes in Iraq apparently just completely lost on everyone.

In fairness it might take Ukraine a decade or more at the current level of support. But the US will be back in support of Ukraine and Israel still has its score to settle with Russia.

There seems to be the same group of people who refuse to fight for the country (likely against Russia) yet aren't concerned to seek a life saving stop to the war in Ukraine.

On balance by sheer numbers Russia is the favourite to win the war. Europe isn't going to be happy with Putin occupying Ukraine, so we're all going to be dragged into a war.

I believe although happy to be corrected the last attempt at a negotiation was the Swiss one, and Russia refused to attend.

You can only negotiate if willing and honest participants attend.

The main issue is Putin has proven repeatedly to be a liar.
So how would you start out negotiating with that hanging around?

So, Russia have taken about 19% of Ukraine. Now, even if we forget the majority of those gains come from 200 battalions worth of Russians and equipment, plus years of preparation against a completely unprepared Ukraine with the disadvantage of previous occupied territories housing men and material and let’s not forget assistance of Belarus. Putin has at best a decade of failure ahead of Russia and realistically it’s only going to get much worse for Russia.
