No one in NATO want's call Putin's bluff... and the little man knows that, so he'll get away with what he wants, and take what he wants like the petulant child he is.

It's pretty sad that we're powerless to help really - and it sucks for the Ukrainians that want to be part of Europe and nothing to do with Russia.

Quite a strong presence in the skies today, all military aircrafts here, more than usual.
Mainly reconnaissance aircrafts, two B52 bombers just took off from the UK aswell.

From what I've seen Russia carried out strategic missiles strikes against Ukrainian military infrastructure, even so far to the west as Lviv, we have videos of that so this is more or less confirmed at this point.

There were some reports that DNR/LNR started an offensive and taking towns on the Ukrainian side of demilitarised zone.

I have not heard of anything to suggest that Russia is entering Kyiv or any other regions.

Is this correct or is there evidence of full scale invasion across various fronts?

Pretty much there was reports of special forces in Kyiv airport, then it was destroyed and nothing since

Russia making a push in Kherson but not really confirmed so it could be more RU propaganda

Also reports of a second wave of missile strikes, Putin so far sticking to his word as much as possible in a war by only targeting military installations, he hasn't seemingly targeted any real traditional military targets like power or water

Still seems surreal seeing the footage of Russian tanks being able to progress along roads/bridges in single file... So odd that the various bridges/roads weren't already rigged with explosives or coordinates ready with Ukrainian artillery/rockets ready for something like this.

@BowdonUK
5pm is the time Boris speaks in the House of Commons.
He said he's speak to the nation on tv 'this morning' - time unknown.
He'll just be saying "this is bad, we will impose sanctions later" so wouldn't worry too much about missing it.

So Russia is allowed to meddle in Ukraine to keep their stooge but the West which is composed of other countries on Ukraine's borders can't? Russia's aggression prior to 2014 pretty much necessitated some form of action assuming of course it wasn't just a minor nudge in a greater displeasure among Ukrainians with a leader who happily mowed down hundreds of his own citizens.
I didn't say that.

Evidence please.

Evidence that the west tried to expand their influence? Here is a great link someone posted earlier.

So what are you saying., and what is your position on Russia's invasion of Ukraine?
I don't care this doesn't greatly affect the security of the UK. It is unfortunate that there will be bloodshed and people displaced from their homes.

Acting like there isn't a power play going on between two superpowers and this is all one sided aggression is dumb and naive.

Anyone heard anything from France or Germany yet. French bombers are usually first into any conflict with any country that can't fight back.

I don't think he'll send troops much further. He's done what he wanted and that's to destabilise Ukraine and make it so they don't control all of their borders. NATO doesn't allow countries to join if it can't control it's borders. Ukraine is screwed now, like Georgia and Moldova, locked in a frozen conflict.

The West is weak, Putin knew this. The outcome was set the moment troops started massing on the border. If you imagine that somehow the UK, the EU, the US and NATO didn't already know this you're incredibly naive. Both sides knew sanctions would not make any difference and talk of them was just posturing, the West is fighting a PR campaign not to look as weak as chip shop vinegar, while also doing the absolute minimum it thinks it can get away with from an optics POV.

A corporate response to a European war started by Russia with no justification.

Like the sanctions it's just grandstanding, it's not going to bother Putin

By the way does anybody honestly believe Putin's just gonna hold his hands up and go "right lads, you're all right I was wrong I'm pulling out" ?

I'm not in slightest interested in what Boris has to say. It will be the completely predictable :

This is really bad
We are supporting how we can
These sanctions are tough
We have more sanctions to come.

You're moving the goalposts.

First you said 'We/America stuck nukes on their borders.'

Now you say 'nukes or army bases near the Russians' (how near, exactly?)

Please choose a claim and stick to it. When I finally know which version you're using, I'll know what I'm responding to.
My bad the Nukes are not stuck literally on the dotted line that defines the russian border.

You probably should as he effectively holds the UK response and your well being or otherwise in his hands.

Absolutely in agreement with that, doesn't matter which official the statement is coming from, what they say is what holds weight.
