It may well be then

I bet that would royally **** off the Russian elite who undoubtedly have some influence over Putin.

Nobody has influence over Putin, those elite are elite because Putin allows it not because they earned it or took it

Oof 18 minute wait time to get into flightradar!

The 1080p 4k Tiktok Twitter wars of 2022 is popular

It's not hysteria when the rhetoric is almost exactly the same as used to justify all of Hitler's conquests and his actions are also fairly similar as well.

The circumstances of current armaments makes it far more difficult obviously, but the intent is still there.

Agree this is not hysteria. It's damn frightening.

Stop with the hysteria. Hitler nearly conquered Europe you can thank Russia for that. Putin is saint compared to that or even what the us has done since ww2.

Didn't you say the warnings about Russia invading the Ukraine were just hysteria? (Or something to that effect)

NATO would trounce Russia, however, it’s all very difficult to judge as once the nuclear weapons start flying, it’s all somewhat irrelevant as we’re all stuffed.

While nuclear weapons are effective at keeping the peace in terms of a major conflict, it also severely limits how much we can get involved in this kind of situation.

One of the B52's I posted is still above Poland now, near the East.

Ok sanction the **** out of Russia. When Putin has his Ukraine and no money coming in then will it not make him more desperate and think **** it lets take Poland or alike. I think whatever anti nuke tech the world has we need to to surround Russia with it.

The problem is if they did role out all the sanctions and Russia still invaded then the West would have nothing other than words to fling at them, they've done this on purpose.
It would make them think again about invading other countries. Are we going to wait for them to attack a NATO country before acting? The key is the City of London, Johnson could really hurt the Russian regime if he wanted to, the problem is he and his party are deeply corrupted by the dirty Russian money which is why he's not doing it.

I imagine it has something to do with Europe's massive reliance on Russian oil, gas and coal.

They're trying to strike the balance between being seen to do something vs the relationship deteriorating to such an extent 40% of the continents energy resource vanishes almost overnight.

It's not just Europe that's somewhat reliant on strategic materials coming out of Ukraine/Russia, there are more complex supply chains at risk as well that the US can't avoid.

It’s hysterical rhetoric that has no basis other than your skewed perception.

I don't think it's wishful thinking, it's just the sanctions have been a bit wishy washy.

Hit the Russian elite hard. Deport them and their families out of London (even if it means pulling their children out of private school). Freeze all assets and seize any property.

Frankly i think we should pass a law that says we can sell wealthy Russian assets and use the proceeds to pay for Ukrainian humanitarian aid.

I bet that would royally **** off the Russian elite who undoubtedly have some influence over Putin.
It is wishful thinking if you think that whatever heavier sanctions the west now come up with will somehow restore Ukraine to some form of non-influenced Russian democracy.

You don't think Putin knew going in the worst that the west was prepared to do? Whatever it is does not compare to the thought of Ukraine eventually being part of NATO.

The only thing that might have deterred Putin was if the west already had troops in their masses already on the ground or was prepared to now deploy troops in support of Ukraine. That is extremely unlikely to happen, which is why Putin has moved on Ukraine with near impunity.

Some Family friends in Ukraine (from my wife's prior mission work in the Ukraine and Russia) are choosing to flee the city, but some are staying. Messed up watching a an invasion in almost real time, as the world does nothing.
