BBC:
Expand into where and why? Let's say he takes Ukraine, surely there's nothing more he can do or want after that.
Apart from the baltics and Finland there isn't anything of strategic value in Europe that I can see. Next stop is head south and get cosy with the middle easterns.BBC:

He wants the 3 lat, lith, est. But I find think its worth it to him.
Getting ukraine is absolutely a win. Putin gets some ego strokes. West can be thankful it isn't a radioactive wasteland.
That's my best outcome.
But all those Baltic states are already members of NATO so Putin will most probably stop at Ukraine. All that will probably happen is that the Baltic states get a reinforcement of arms and troops from NATO.He wants the 3 lat, lith, est. But I find think its worth it to him.

I'd just read that Lithuania and Estonia are declaring state of emergencies / going on high alert.
If one of your fellow ex-soviet neighbours is under attack by what was the biggest soviet territory, you can bet they're worried about whether Vlad will target them next.
The baltic states are members of NATO and, from what I remember, are among the few members meeting the spending commitments.

wait are u trying to spread petrol panic buyin again?!?!?!Same here to be fair, I actually needed petrol and was going to get it 'sometime' before Monday but after reading the news off I trundled today...
It wasn't panic buying as such, I actually needed petrol and wanted to make sure I had the petrol before other people got the idea of panic buying into their heads (which was a pita last time).
On the way in I did see 'panic buying' of home oil for heating though...
But he still wants them.
I don't think (I hope) they aren't worth as much to go to nuclear war over. But that's up to him.

Jeez, this is taking me right back to my childhood fears of nuclear war.
