There are (although somewhat depleted) reserves. Only the other day, it was suggested that Europe could see out the rest of the winter. And there are alternatives such as US LPG.

We should certainly be freezing all Russian assets though and enforcing sanctions against the entire country not just targeted individuals even if this does annoy a lot of Tory donors.

A strong West would already have resolved this energy reliance issue as this conflict has been ongoing for 8 years now.

Same here to be fair, I actually needed petrol and was going to get it 'sometime' before Monday but after reading the news off I trundled today...
It wasn't panic buying as such, I actually needed petrol and wanted to make sure I had the petrol before other people got the idea of panic buying into their heads (which was a pita last time).

On the way in I did see 'panic buying' of home oil for heating though...

My car was nearly empty, so I would have been buying tomorrow. After the previous panic buying, I decided to get mine early.

It's one of those irregular verbs, I think: i bought petrol, you panic bought petrol, they ruined everything for everyone else with their stupidity.
