*****UK's Best Price & Staggering DEAL - ATI HD 5870 £179.99 Delivered!*****

The ATI reference cooler blows all the hot air out of the case, this may be a positive to some customers.

Theres a couple of positives to the stock cooler:

Overall length is a bit shorter as the power cords go into the top, not the front. Could be the difference between the card fitting and not fitting.

Back side on ati stock cooler has a metal plate which offers a bit of protection, on the pcs version the backside of the card is a bare pcb.

According to hardocp the powercolor pcs version of this card actually eats up quite a bit mroe power, since the pcb on the one gibbo posted looks identical to the powercolor variation id assume its the same. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/03/15/powercolor_pcs_hd5870_hd5850_video_card_review/7

The pc one is clocked 25mhz higher on the core and 100mhz on the ram but apparently eats up over 100 more watts.

Hey - do these come with the usual assortment of cables, including a standard 4 pin "hard drive" cables to 6 pins? or a 6 pin cable peroid?

Reason I ask is I've lost the second 6 pin cable from my PSU (I know... fail)

has to be one smart ass does their not , post somewhere else with pointless replies please :p

not being a smartass, what more do you need to know? i just dont get why you would ask something like that...you know what a 5870 theres a 100 reviews out there if you didnt, and brand identity is subjective so your never going to get a factual response.

dont try to sound clever it aint working , not all 5870's perform the same read the review's . i have a 5870 already , i want to know if they use the same amount of power the powercolor pcs+ version use's which is more than the stock amd version

heres a response from vtx regarding watercooling blocks for those that are interested:

Thanks for you inquiry, the HD5870 1GB GDDR5 is designed by our own, and the water-block in the market is for BBA board only as I know here. So there is no water-block can fit these models.

If you really interested in water-block cooling, you may consider 6870 here, http://www.vtx3d.com/products_features.asp?id=56, it is BBA board version which most water-block fit it in the market. However, it will void the warranty if you modify it.

Best Regards,

VTX Support
