Unbelievable!!!!

I dont see how plugging it into a plug with lots of things would break it, nothing else ever breaks when you do that eg a pc and they are just as fragile if not more fragile than a 360.

The 360 in my local gamestation has broken now, its just sitting there with a checkerboard frozen on the screen. Not exactly the best advert.

The box they're in is pretty god damned stupid (the display ones). Not surprised they're a bit screwed.

As for the failure rate... a place like this or any other tech minded forum is hardly the place to get a good feeling for the % of returns is it? This happens everytime something new comes out, it's just tedious. In these kinda places, people seem to get the crazy idea that almost every xbox 360 is failing, and everyone has had returns. So very very wrong.

Chill dude ^^ I love my 360, and being an manager of a large server farm i know the conditions of the display cases are far from ideal lol.

Also another factor you forgot a lot of people will rant on a forum about a failed product but not one thats working, thats right you guessed it. Their too busy playing on it. ;)

I'm gonna buy one but I'm not confident it will get to 6 months with out atleast one return.

Good lord, will you just make your mind up?! It seems like you are in every other thread asking yourself whether or not you want one. Just make a darn decision! I almost fear seeing that little Motorbike helmet in discussions because it's inevitably you telling us you want one but aren't sure about it! :o

No offense intended mate, it's just a funny trend I've noticed over the last week :)

i find it so strange how some are dying. Me and my brother are on the 360 every single day for atleast 3 hours. perhaps its the way you stand it. mine has been lying flat and hasn't been moved since the day i got it.

Was the PS2 on Watchdog? If that wasn't, then the 360 shouldn't be tbh. Sony wouldn't even replace faulty PS2s, u had to buy a new one.

yea when i got the ps2 at launch my first 4 had to go back they wouldn't read normal cds and the drive sounded like a chain saw. sayin that my 360 has been fine for the 3 weeks ive owned it (touchwood) and im playin the crap out of it.

Im a bit worried about all the failures, some ppl are onto their 4th machine  , but ive still bought one, and its been working fine so far, nearly a month old now. :)

Now ive said that expect me back on later saying ive got the red ring of light. :D

******** hope not. :p

Check the dates...

A month to the flipping day since the last one went all squiffy.

im still on my first machine touch wood!

truly unlucky

i hope its not a plug issue thing, ive got 2 plug sockets on wall - both have 4 ways connected and one of those 4 ways have a 4 way coming off it

all in all i have about 16 appliances running almost 24/7 - i did have a powercut over xmas but because i wasnt here (uni house) when the power kicked back in blew my pc - taking out the PSU / GFX Card and the AGP slot on the mobo!!!

/me thinks about re-arranging plugs

Whats so strange about wanting one but fearing for it's lifespan? And why make your mind up? I already have as ive said many times I'm trying to get one, doesn't mean that should make me not fear it's reliability.

Chill out mate, I was just teasing.

Im on my 3rd 360 now, and its ontop of a AV unit, the PSU's are well ventilated, and they hardly get warm to the touch.

Turn around is quick enough off MS, but atm im upto 1 replacement per month

Thing is..they don't actually return your xbox. It's a replacement..and one that could really be sent when the DHL people come to pick the broken one up. But hey, that would be asking too much.

Agreed! it seems silly that they some out with a box, for you to box it up to call them to come out to collect the console, and then come back again with a replacement one. Why not just send out a new one when a broken one comes in, You don't get the replacement until you hand over yours.

And to add my 2nd console has given up this evening during a intense session of 'crossing the rhine' on verteran Difficulty level! I was winning too!

I know, i asked about that with the first one that went back. why couldnt you do a drop and swap?

The answer i got was because they used to do that with the original xbox, but because the couriers didnt check the parcels, peeps were sending MS house bricks etc and getting xboxs in return

Which is a good point i suppose...it would probably massively slow down the returns process...especially considering the numbers they're dealing with! ;)
