Hi all,

Looking for some advice on how to squeeze more out of my setup for Heaven 4.

Heres my setup: -

Windows 8.1

i7 [email protected]

Sapphire 290x Vapor-x 8GB x2 cfx standard clock.

The highest ive managed to get is 2746, 240.2 FPS max. Which seems reasonable but when I look at other similar setups there are a few that appear to be scoring several hundred more!

Ive turned off ULPS. Thats as much as ive done so far. Other than overclocking my cards is there anything else im missing?

Many thanks!

Win7 gives a noticeable boost.

Turn off hyperthreading for the above for a few more points.

Overclock the above, VRAM clocks are important.

Cheers Kaapstad. See below a decent improvement.

Turned off hyperthreading and had a "tinker" with the clock settings

This weekend I shall be re-installing Windows 7 to see if I can squeeze more. Do you know the technics behind Windows 7 running better scores? Resource related?

Many thanks

I don't know the technical reasons but Win7 is better on the unigine benches and Win8.1 is better on the futuremark benches.

If you want to get on the scoreboard don't forget to do the in bench screenshot.:)

With windows 8.1 and a 5930k I'm scoring similar to my 2600k / 4770k did on Win7:

Score 2961, GPU 780 @1241/1753, CPU 2600k @4.5, Alz_D

Score 3031, GPU 780 @1228,1254/1663, 4770k @4.5, Alz_D

Now have the 4930k running at 4.5Ghz and scores so far have been somewhere in between those two. I'm hoping it's the OS that's made the difference in scores then.

What are you using for card cooling and what temps is it reaching during the bench?

You should be able to increase those clock speeds with enough voltage.

Don't forget going from a 2600k to a 4770k or 4930k also means going from PCI-E 2.0 to 3.0 this will give you a very small increase along with the improved architectures going from SB to IB-E to Haswell will also give small improvements. Add together these will give 2 or 3% improvement on the score.

Using Win8.1 will knock the score down 2 or 3% so it is swings and roundabouts.:)

Thanks for the responses all. Not watercooled.....yet. Stock Vapor-X coolers which are pretty impressive. GPU-s reach highs of around 73 while running unigine.

See below for my case cooling: -

Shall have a play around with the voltages : )
