as soon as giggs, scholes and neville hang their boots up it will be the end of an era:( i think rafael will make an excellent right back one day, replacing giggs and scholes will be more of a challenge though

Its unlikely they will be British thats for certain (possibly Milner, but I cant see that happening)

Could do a lot worse than Di Maria for Giggs and Silva as the AM / playmaker - however we would be lucky to afford one let alone both (as combined they could easily be £45m +)

I cant see any English club in the near future producing so many players of such quality that mature at the same time, just one of those twists of fate which Man Utd were very fortunate with

You're being a bit of a transfer muppet Frank; Silva? Dont make me laugh if him and Villa were really as good as the media have you believe then they wouldn't still be at Valencia.

Dont get me wrong Villa is a very good player, Silva likewise but like Ribery (who my suspicions were proved right going on the two legs against us) these players just aren't anywhere near 40 million good which is the price banded about for them. I have huge doubts as to whether Villa & Silva could even adapt over here.

As I said previously I think the only position that we're really in need of is a striker so that when Rooney is injured we dont lack an evident goal threat like we did against Chelsea. Rooney will still be first choice, Berbatov wont be sold but may well have to settle for being third choice, Owen will still be around but with the world cup gone will probably be thinking more about retirement than pushing for a first team place so that makes him 4th choice which leaves Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf & the new kid but given the age of all 4 we'd be mad to rely on any.... the flip side of that though is with potentially 7 strikers all in and around the first team squad would a top class striker really be on the managers agenda amid his value for money physiology?

If I were playing football manager my only priority signings would be Joe Cole on a free from Chelsea, maybe Rodwell from Everton & that striker I mentioned; Dzeko maybe? Higuain? He's apparently on his way out of Madrid in the summer....

Once again I think next season we'll be relying on the likes of Anderson to step it up given the lack of obvious other players out there

I dont believe I ever mentioned Villa - but at 40m yes he would be too expensive for us (although his international record is pretty ****** good, but then by your measure Aguerro is pretty lousy because he is still at AM)

Ive seen price for Silva around the £25m mark and that to me would be a good purchase as he is a decent playmaker as well as a left winger - two positions we are desperate for

Two very renouned International players, and they are unlikely to adapt hmmmm if you say so

Veron, Crespo, Shevenko all of those were renowned international players none of which could adapt to the Premiership

out of how many that have.....

Exactly a VERY tiny percentage of those that come over fail to adapt

The worst thing about Shev was his age when he did come over, was always going to be a difficult task

Also it MIGHT be easier if we bought both Silva and Villa (not that its likely) but they could assist each other which would make any adaption easier

They are as good as that, go and try watching them.

:D

Really do love the logic in that thinking :p

Valencia are a big club, they have some good players.

I've seen plenty of both thanks very much

Villa scores shed loads of goals but at 28 isnt worth the risk at 40m nor would he be worth it for a player who in all likely hood will play second fiddle to Rooney in the big games

Silva meh shows class now and again but would easily cost at least 30m and has only scored 8 times this season plus wouldn't settle into the premiership given the lack of time players get on the ball

Valencia have had all kinds of money troubles the last couple of years and yet even with that being said no move to Real, Barca, Chelsea, City or Inter for either of them... wonder why that is.....

You're a Manchester United fan?

You're in lots of "money trouble" as well.

Villa has said he doesn't want to leave Spain, I'd imagine the same for Silva.

Why would you want to leave?

Oh I'm sorry, it's because unless you do it on a rainy cold windy night at the JJB stadium you're not really *that good*.

Given he's said how much he wants to stay at Valencia time and time again it's probably because he wants to stay at Valencia...

Until recently.....(unless its the British media doing their usual thing):)

there is a big step between Valencia and RM/Barca - and while Chelsea / Man Utd / Arsenal and to some extents Liverpool may not be at Barca level they surely can be considered a lot nearer to RM (if not better) than Valencia

Every player wants to test themselves in the latter stages of the big competitions - how likely is it that Valencia are going to do that time and again?

It was widely known by everyone with even a passing interest in football that Shevchenco's ankles were shot to pieces and that he was having troubling fitness issues before he signed for chelsea.

But thats what happens when the chairman signs players.

I agree with Giggs and Scholes but Neville is past it now. Rafael and Nani don't have maturity, Nani still has to many "low" games, sure he has had a few good games but he needs to get over himself.

United need a Right back in the Summer, Rafael may come good in a year or two but in the Champions League he is ****.

Midfield is pretty good really, I quite like Carrick but prefer Hargreaves, whether he will be any good next season after a long time out is anyones guess. I also think Gibson has good potential in replacing Scholes when he does call it a day. Valencia has been good, I just think we need an attacking midfilder who can score goals in Mid.

Up front without Rooney I worry where the goals will come from, mostly cause in Mid there is no Ronaldo anymore who is a good goal scorer.

If it was me I would want a Right back and an attacking midfielder in the summer.

I'm not a fan of Berbatov personally, I think his price tag has got to him and he can't take the pressure. I'd love to see Owen come good next season (Yes I'm dreaming :D)

Villa and Silva respect their employers and that's why they haven't left. lol @ judging them on where they play rather than actually, y'know, watching them?

Not really, vs Bayern he was the best player on the pitch, £40m rated Ribery was sitting in his back pocket. Until he got sent off off course! He is definately improving, just needs to mature a bit.

You recall 1 game? Hardly merits him as good enough to keep the right back position full time. Beside that you have just said the same thing as me. He needs time and United don't have time if they want to win something next season, the current one is out. I'd rather play Brown than this kid.

He isn't ready. And getting sent off doesn't contribute as being the best player on the night IMO.

But with no effect on the game until Rafael was off. Don't get me wrong I think Rafael has a way to go but the potential was there and until his sending off he was handling one of the world's best players just fine.
