United States Grand Prix 2012, Austin - Race 19/20

Really?

I think BMW were the driving force behind moving them from a midfield team to knocking on the door of the front runners.

Yes they left them in the lurch when they jumped ship, but I think BMW actually did a good job of moving them forward.

sorry but I cant see how "doing a good job of moving them forward" can ever include bailing out on a long term / permanent (if anything is ever permanent in F1 lol) deal after a few years.

Look at how long Mercedes have taken to get a winning car (admittedly they should have done it sooner), but its not an overnight project taking over an existing team (even a WDC /WCC like Brawn).

Always thought Sauber made/continued the step up despite BMW not because of them.

From that pic it looks steeper than in other pics I've already seen, will make that first corner rather interesting. :)

Seems quite an elevation change and actually looks similar to Eau Rouge in that respect.

Should be a good race, I'd like to see Vettel falter and Alonso have a strong race - if only to keep the title race open until the final hurdle.

Then roll on 2013 !

Turn one is not as steep as it looks in that picture. The camera shortens it.

And I don't get all the praise for it either. F1 braking zones are already very short. Putting them on an upward hill makes them even shorter. What you want is the other way around where the corner is at the bottom of a hill, lengthening the braking zone and increasing the chances of drivers outbraking themselves.

+1

Having played the track on F1 2012 the hill isn't nearly as steep as you'd think. It reminds me of turn 11 on the Nurburgring short track but a fair bit steeper.

I gather Red Bull are running the 2012 alternator again this race, hope they are more confident with it now.

No, it looks right to me.

Vettel has said that he and Alonso have had equal bad luck so whoever wins the WDC deserves it. Anyone who does not now want Alonso to win - and preferably on track with no retirements involved - has no soul.

The only person who can't say that is Vettel. This is why I really don't like him sometimes...

It's not about luck, it's about the fact that Newey has basically won you the WDC from the last four races where as Alonso has had to stick a car well above its place to get him to where he is.

This circuit looks like it could hold a cracking race, lets hope it is.

Also how is it race 19 allready :(, feels like we should have about 4 left not two :(
