United States Grand Prix 2013, Austin - Race 18/19

Vettel is the Polemeister.
Plain and simple.

So impressive.
He is all set for his 8th win on the trot which will be one heck of an achievement.

26 years old and already an F1 legend.
Once he has broken all records, the next step for him will be to pitch himself directly up against his closest competitor...whoever that will be in a few years time.

I don't know if beating webber by 6 hundredths is that impressive, but well done to vettel all the same. 8 in a row will be quite an achievement whether or not the RBR is a second faster than the rest.

Beating Webber by a small margin is no big deal. I agree.
But beating Webber in qualifying so consistently - I believe it is Vettel 16 -2 Webber.
Now that's impressive.

Maldonado has no shame. seriously accusing the team of sabotage because he sucks is laughable

I hope they kick him out of F1 with a crowbar :D

well done to the Fins and the Mexicans !!

Red Bull is in a different league

In 2007 he was in an underperforming Renault and outscored the Experienced Fisichella, and finished ahead of him in every race from Canada onwards.

Fisichella was on his way down.
Past his best.
Some would argue that Fisi was simply collecting pay-cheques until he left F1.

He destroyed every team mate he had at Caterham with the pressure off. Again this weekend, no one is really expecting him to do well as he's jumping in an unfamiliar car and he's keeping pace with Grosjean very well.

Caterham have only had lesser drivers, so its not surprise that Heikki can beat them. You only have to look at Chiltern, (who, IMO shouldnt be in F1 - he is consistent, yes, but very slow).

The only 2 drivers he partnered who are at the peak of their powers were Hamilton and now, Grosjean.

He certainly has the one lap speed, although his long run pace is ~0.6 off, but I'd imagine that is simply due to not being used to making the Pirellis last.

0.6s/lap slower, is a HUGE amount of time to give away.

Many drivers in the past have accused their own team of sabotaging their cars.

N.Mansell and F.Alonso to name a few - both regarded as one of the best driver in their times.

Sometimes, if a driver is inexplicably slow, the only way he can get his head around it, is to accuse others. No big deal

Maldonado is merely justifying his poor performance. Remember, he wants a job in F1 next year.

Disappointed with 5th for Lewis, especially as he's gone backwards in every race since winning at the end of the first-half of the season.

Hope he gets a good start and can pick up good points tomorrow. I can see Webber nicking 3rd in the WDC off him at this rate.

They changed the car for this race so he will be faster so hopefully he will be up there at the finish.

A blisteringly hot day today. Temp's set to rise tomorrow. A good qualifying but disappointed that yet again it's Vettel on pole.

Nice to see a bit of a mixed grid behind though. Just need to get to my spot at the top of turn 1 tomorrow and watch the start with delight. Watching the Ferrari challenge cars trying to pass and spin at 1 was good. Will be better watching 22 F1 cars try and get round!!!

Did you go up the tower? and don't forget some pics :)

Didn't go to the tower. It was far busier today than I had imagined. The hill to turn 1 was busy even by 8am. Have uploaded some pics and video to Google drive if I can figure out how to share it.
