United States Grand Prix 2013, Austin - Race 18/19

Nothing official, but lots of reports on Finnish and Italian sites.

Also, the Italian sites are saying that Ferrari stepped in and paid Hulkenberg's salary for this year, as he had not yet been paid.

They reckon this was because he was going to accept the Lotus drive and use the lack of payment from Sauber to announce his contract null and void. Ferrari, afraid that Lotus would then over take them in the WCC with Hulkenbergs help, gave Sauber the money to keep him there.

Exactly what I thought.

Brings a new meaning to 'buying' a Championship position.
Seems a fair comment given that he would have had to be brought out of his contract. Its well known that Lotus don't have that much cash, so they wouldn't have been able to buy him out, and being that Hulk hasn't been paid either, he wouldn't have been able to fund the buy out, so it all adds up.

What's the point in having a 2nd, a 3rd and a development driver if you're just going to give the seat to somebody else.

I would be pretty peeved if I was one of those guys right now.

Nothing as simple as contractual issues.
It has tto be some CT, the CT nonsense is ******* retarded and annoying, every thread has multiple CT retardness.

Nothing realy, its all due to malck of testing. You're fighting for chmapionship. You want someone whos got experience of driving the cars. Which reserve drivers just dont have these days.

Hekki has potential, he done a cracking job at Renault with a not so good car, McLaren he always played second fiddle to Lewis. Good to see him in a decent car to show what he can do.

Feel sorry for Perez in a way, had a great rookie season, but made the move to McLaren at the wrong time, the car wasn't great. Alas he's remaining professional and leaving with grace.

So what do Lotus see in Heikki? I've never rated him as being a outstanding, or solid, racer because of his inconsistency. Is he just the only driver available?

I've said this elsewhere, but Heikki has three things going for him - well, four if you count him already having a superlicence, which Valsecchi might not.

1) He's experienced.
2) He's cheap.
3) Kimi's crew won't have to learn to understand a different accent.
