United States Grand Prix 2013, Austin - Race 18/19

Or to summarise: "Better lucky than good".

Skeeter, there is no way that RBR can know with certainty that parts will work without manufacturing them. If simulators were reality we wouldn't need the cars.

I don't think RBR have been lucky they just have a fantastic car.

It was Brawn that got lucky with their cut and shut car. :D

To be fair, I think any team could have done that had they also had 18 months dedicated to building a new car to new regulations.

Just imagine what that car would have been like using the Honda engine it was designed for, and with Honda money allowing them to continue to develop the car all season? Button would have dominated on a scale not seen since... well, 2011 :p.

No I was just asking if you went down the road to see the other plants(that's where the Dyno is and other stuff)
because you was saying how small it was and then you went off on one(as normal). You do need to back off.

Dyno and other stuff? Designers in Japan? Interesting.

Now me and arknor don't post so much then Skeeter needs to find a new target, seems it's you :)

Proper stoked that Kevin Magnussen is joining Mclaren as an F1 driver next year. Can't wait!!! :D

Good move for Mclaren, Button is not tier 1, I'm a big fan, but I'm a realist. Would hamilton, Vettel, Schumacher or Alonso have been so dominated by Button in their first season, let alone given Perez had 2 seasons at Sauber already?

No, never, so he's not right.

Morning all. Currently 9:20pm central time Thursday here in what has been a somewhat cold Austin. Looking forward to practice tomorrow.

Can anyone enlighten me to where the most overtakes were last year? Will be checking out the at turn 1 tomorrow but get the feeling that the end of the second drs zone was better. Don't think there is any general admission areas at that end.

You should try telling that to the Mexican fans. The abuse McLaren are getting from them on Twitter is unreal.

You say that like it's a bad thing. yes, we might have seen the same level of domination in 2011 from Honda, and it wouldn't have been waggling its finger at everyone either. :D

Its not a bad thing, but look at how 'popular' Vettel is with his dominance, and how much the viewing figures have 'risen' with him winning easily. 2009 was an exciting and enjoyable season party due to Brawn's development being limited preventing Button walking away with it.

You never know, maybe if they had stuck around Honda could have taken the fight to RBR over the last few years? What better way to beat Newey than to get a 2 year head start on him :).

But alas, we shall never know. I can't even remember if the Honda engine was any good.

Gearbox dyno I've seen pics but it must be great to see it in action it could be in house?
And as for the Japanese guy it was DC and Newey that said about him at a race were they needed help with a front wing.

Looks like it :( He is a bit upset at the moment as I noticed in GD he had a go at members in his own thread.

"I feel I'm ready. I have won in everything I have driven in so why would that change in Formula 1?" - Magnussen.

That's the attitude of an F1 driver, right there.

Perez has been a disappointment on track for McLaren but, according to reports, the thing that has really killed his chances there is an inability to work with the engineers and develop the car. I'm sorry to see him go, he shower real spirit last year.

Good attitude for sure, but he's hyping himself up for failure if the car doesn't deliver again.

I can't see him worrying about that. As a rookie your only real job is to be at the same level as (or beat) your team mate by mid-point of the season.
