United States Grand Prix 2015, Austin - Race 16/19

Don't understand why people are so harsh on Rosberg in here. He's a fast driver - faster than Hamilton in certain areas. Rosberg seems to be beaten in places where Hamilton excels on the brakes. Perhaps analogous to Webber and Vettel.. Vettel was epic on the brakes/slower corners compared to Webber... but then Webber was faster than Vet in the faster corners. Then comes 2014 and he's noticeably slower than Riccardo - he just couldn't adapt to the new formula.

And about the hat throwing.. I'm not surprised Rosberg wasn't in the best mood after what had happened to him. I think put everyone in here in his boots and you'd all be the same :p

That's the difference between him and rosberg. Rosberg will take second and hope for a Hamilton retirement where as Hamilton will grab the bull by the horns and go for it. Granted it doesn't always pay off but that's what makes a racer a top class racer.

Agreed, that quote sums it up - and also why I like Hamilton and think he is great for the sport. One of the few racers in it tbh and someone who will not happily settle for second place.

To be fair, every driver on the grid is a fast driver and they all have their good points and bad. Perez with the long runs, Button with the early calls to slicks (always for the changing conditions - he's an also run in full wet).

The great drivers are in reality a hair's breadth better than the rest - but in a sport like F1 it's enough.

Boooooooooooooooooooooo!

Can sort of see their point, but if it entertained fans on an (up till then) miserable weekend then why not?

Did McLaren do any larking about, or did the risk assessment form not make it out of the change management meeting in time?

Miserable Company. I bet the people doing the funny stuff just did it. They didn't need to be told. Almost as bad as grey McLaren.

That's because it didn't happen.

Hamilton clearly chose to force him off, but then I don't know how much grip he had. It looked like he only turned 30% of what the wheel would allow... Giving him the benefit of the doubt you could say that turning the wheel more would have no additional difference (to any under steer) but then the rest of the grid made it fine so...

Rosberg seems to think he was ahead mid corner. Hamilton was level with him entering the breaking zone with the inside line. It was Hamiltons corner at that point. That said I do think Hamilton pushed Rosberg wider than he needed to - but then thats racing. Its being ruthless like that which seperates people who win 3 World titles from guys who win 3 GPs a year.

Considering turn 1 had nothing to do with Rosberg losing the race, I don't see why he thinks we should care?

He was gifted pole by the rain anyway, so should probably not shout about it to much.

That's the thing that corner isn't particularly one I'd want to be on the outside of at the first corner of the race with ever cooling tyres... I think the better option would've been to relinquish it and try and cut back in an Alonso'esque manner. But then again we aren't talking about Alonso, we are talking about Rosberg... The guy who will take second every week and hope for the best. This might work against other teams with slow cars but not with a faster team mate in the same car.

Anyway, lets hope that Ferrari, Red Bull and even McLaren are back closer to the silver arrows and challenging for wins next year. I reckon Hamilton would much rather win a tough fought championship than one where he only has to beat his team mate/one other guy.

This too. He should be reporting himself to Wolff/Lauda for throwing the win away so close to the end. :o:p

What I don't understand is why Rosberg keeps putting himself into situations where that can happen. Yes, there's a certain amount of trust you have to put into other drivers, yes that move was harsh, but Rosberg seems to be complaining that Hamilton isn't playing by the team's own rules, but any other driver would have done the same. Heck, Rosberg has done it to others. Yet he continues to screw himself over where he puts himself in the position of relying on another competitors charity.

At this point I'm thinking Rosberg has some kind of sportsman's psychological issue. Whenever he's under pressure, he always chokes, and it's like he's making mistakes in order to have an excuse he can blame. It's not Hamilton that beat him, it's a car failure, a team mistake, Hamilton playing rough, some amazing happening that he could not have forseen, the universe sending him bad luck. He's the same guy that leaps up and down when he's been gifted a win, yet can never look in the mirror when he's beaten.

Rosberg's attitude is just awful, and I think he's actually tarnishing the team in a way that other number 2 drivers (eg Massa, Webber, Irvine, Coulthard, etc) never did when they were consistently beaten by faster team mates.
