United States Grand Prix 2015, Austin - Race 16/19

If Ferrari close the gap, you bet Rosberg is going to be a clear number 2. It was very clear watching German tv last night that Hamilton is pretty darn popular with them. He has extended the gap on Rosberg this year. Rosberg is still a decent driver, far better than many other number 2 drivers that we have seen...like others have said, just too moany!

Lol @ the glare.

Very eventful race. Congratulations to MB and Lewis.

As for Nico. I do feel for him. He has every right to be frustrated..... With himself. He clearly still has a lot to do before he can be classed as a great driver.

Yes the first corner was aggressive. That doesn't change the fact that he was still able to retake the lead. And then eventually hand it back.

I hate to say it - because I like Nico as a character. But he is an average driver (in F1 STANDARDS) driving a really good car. Whereas Lewis is a far better driver, driving a great car.

Was also good the see Jenson and Alonso up in the mix... Although I found it hard to tell whether this would've been the case. Had there been no retirements!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rosberg is only merely a good driver and is in the team because he's German, nothing else. You can bet your arse that unless he wins the WDC next year (and he won't) then Mercedes will likely let his contract expire and try and get someone else in to challenge Lewis. Bottas or Verstappen if Ferrari don't get there first.

Rosberg needs to grow up and stop acting like a spoilt brat. It's as if he expects everything to be handed to him on a plate. The team consistantly needs to mollycuddle him. The so called "incident" at turn 1 was just as much Rosbergs fault as he turned in on Hamilton. I have seen Rosberg do far worse than that in the past. I believe it was the last time we were at the A1 ring when he practically pushed Hulkenburg into the wall. If he doesn't like losing then maybe he should leave.

At the bottom line, it doesn't look like Rosberg is going to beat Hamilton if they are in the same car, so Rosberg needs to come to terms with that, or go to another team to try and get an edge.

It doesn't matter if he's done worse before. I think had the cars been reversed and Rosberg did that to Lewis people would be viewing that incident in a different way. Most of the time on here it's about who does it rather than the incident. Lewis made a mistake, either by misjudging his speed or on purpose. Either way he shouldn't be running his team mate out of road. In the same way as Rosberg has previous so does Lewis with team mates.

Absolutely, he's broken. He needs a change of scenary, but like anyone else they would struggle to walk away from that car. If new rules come about he should move. Rosberg couldn't be the better partner for Lewis, zero threat and can't race wheel to wheel. Job done.

A very enjoyable race, and another championship for Lewis.

I thought Rosberg was justified in being annoyed at Lewis hitting him in the first corner; if a driver had done that later in the race it would likely have been investigated at the very least. In the end though, it made little difference, Rosberg threw his chance away with a spin - for which he can blame no-one else - and was slower than Lewis at most stages of the race.

It's not the first time we've seen Rosberg making mistakes in the lead; he seems prone to struggle whenever Hamilton puts him under pressure. I think he's simply not as good as Lewis and so he needs to push his limits to match Lewis's pace and this leads to him making mistakes.

As much as I'm glad Hammy won it, I can't help but feel Rosberg is even more stupid than he seems. He could easily have feigned issues on the closing lap to allow Vettel to come 2nd, therefore technically keeping the WC alive.

Sorry, but why on earth would Rosberg do that? Reduce his chances of beating Vettel in the championship to try and keep the championship open so Hamilton has a chance to lose it? He wouldn't exactly be keeping his own championship hopes alive by collected fewer points.

That's some pretty warped thinking.

Rosberg will never be the same now he's a father - he'll always have that thought at the back of his mind that he has responsibilities and it makes him that bit slower - IMO!

It hasn't stopped Pastor. Mind you, for him to make the risky overtaking manoeuvres for which he is famous would require him to have a car that isn't held together with Sellotape and powered by Suzie Wolff's knicker elastic.

Awesome race, best of the season so far :D

I was expecting Lewis to get some sort of penalty for the 1st corner though. Sky switched to Lewis' onboard camera and it looked like he could have turned into the corner a lot more than what he did.

Ferrari's pace looked good hopefully with changes to the aero for next year, they can take the fight to the mercs :D

One exciting race out of the whole calendar so far, oh how dull F1 has got.

Glad a Brit won it though.

Hopefully things are a little more competitive next year.

Maybe that was why Vettle had that season at RBR? Because he was a Dad?

Explain Schumacher.... Mick Schumacher 16 and Gina Marie Schumacher 18.

Why do they need someone to challenge Lewis? I don't think Merc are so concerned about a German driver as they are a consistent 2nd/3rd place driver. So long as they have that then they consistently have the constructors championship wrapped up.
