**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Probably going to need to start replacing all 4 corners of the GTR this year.

Question is, stick with Pzeros or move to Pilot Super Sports?

Aight here I go then.

So I want some new rubber for my impreza, it's a newage. Prefer something with a thicker sidewall and it'll get used in the rain as well as the ...overcast. :p

There's no real budget as such but lets not go mental. :)

Edit :- Oh and I err...like to push on and make progress so, nothing below £60 a tyre.

Just gone for CS5's on my FSTI likening them so far. I also push on a bit occasionally :)

What do people think of these? Am I right in thinking they are new? All the introductory 'reviews' and the few proper reviews I could find all say very good things about them, someone saying they seemed much better than his previous Bridgestone Potenza's, and compared them to PS3's and AS2's.

Haven't heard of them tbh, and because Barry from the internet says they're better than his bridgestones doesn't make them wonder tyres.

Goodyear F1A2's are £4 more per corner.

Yes and might not be as good. When I asked if anyone had any thoughts on them I didn't really want answers like "Haven't heard of them, but Goodyears are £4 more"

Err, thanks? :p

OK, I'll flesh it out a bit more for you.

They're classed as a touring tyre, focussing on "safety and comfort".

So from a midrange brand comes a midrange tyre. Logic would dictate that this is probably below a UHP tyre from a premium brand, even though they aren't the newest generation.

Another example would be a CSC5.

If you would like to be a guinea pig, be my guest. Make sure you come back with some feedback though :p

Will take a look, thanks. :) Btw do you find they're good for cornering? I prefer the XL type tyres as the non XL ones tend to flex too much when cornering hard.

In that same size I purchased Yoko V105's from blackcircles for about £80 a tyre in the end. Did very well in many reviews, especially regarding wet and dry cornering, fell slightly short on braking and fuel economy. Can't knock them at all, wear is supposed to be pretty poor though..

See, I think Potenzas are probably one of the worst premium tyres, personally. I changed from AD08s to Goodyear Eagle F1A2s and the difference is enormous. A quieter, more compliant ride while still feeling totally planted, and better grip (as far as I've pushed anyway)

As above, go the the CSC5s or Goodyear F1A2 (or 3 if available)

I will soon need some tyres for the FN2 Civic Type R. It takes 225/40/R18 which is decent price wise. Not sure which tyres to go for out of the Continental CS5, Goodyear AS3 or Michelin PS4's. No CS6's down at that tyre size unfortunately. All are between £80-90 per tyre so cost doesn't really come into it. I tend to do a lot of motorway miles these days so I guess that should go into the consideration.

I have two ps4's going on the front of the Octavia as we speak, so can let you know what they're like in a few days once scrubbed in a bit

Same size £100 fitted each
