**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Thanks, I'll have a look now. I assume Black Circles is still the best way to go? (Haven't used them in years as been using a company car!)

To be honest, I normally have a look at Asda Tyres, Black Circles, Kwik Fit online (sometimes they have really good prices). I then compare them to the companies that do delivery only (Tyreleader/Oponeo/Camskill) and factor in the cost of fitting and hassle, versus the all in one providers.

It seems not. Would there be any huge disadvantage to me changing up to a 225/45/17 instead of the mighty 50 profile 205s I'm running now? AS3s are LOTS cheaper that way.

Edit: I did do some napkin maths regarding diameter changes, hence the 225 suggestion

They seem to have it up for sale here, unless it's some sort of mistake? I don't think it is because they have 205/40/17 and 225/50/17 in stock also for the CSC6

I'm not sure how I missed that earlier, good spot indeed.

I'm unsure as to whether to just fire 4 of those on and have done with it or get the AS3 in 225/45 as according to loads of Volvo forums they seem more comfortable

I was hoping to get Michelin PS4s for my Fiesta ST but they're not available in 205/40/17 so CS6 it is. I really hate the Birdgestone RE050A the car comes with, good on dry days but rubbish when it gets a tiny bit damp and the sidewalls are made out of concrete.

Will need to get some new tyres soon, 225/50/18, preferably run flat to save on faff *if* I were to get a puncture, but not bothered if it makes sense to get rid of my runflats and buy some tyre gunk.

Of what I'd deem to be 'decent' brands, the Cinturato P7 is the cheapest by a long way, are they terrible? Does the CSC5 warrant £53 a corner more than it? Anything in-between seem worthwhile price wise?

The cheap P7s on that link are old stock hence the dates of production being quoted.
Good spot - is it a big deal to have the 2012 or 2013 model then? And is the CSC5 worth £37 a corner more than the current P7? (£123 vs £160)

Evening all,

After all of the fun that was oulton park, I can safely say I feel like I have that tackday bug. Now I've replaced the fried brakes with the recommended ebc yellow front green rear combo with breast discs and better fluid, so at least I should be able to stop better in the future.

My tyres, Yokohama V105's, while brilliant for the damp conditions and the rainy sessions and astonishing for road tyres, felt the next weakest part of the car. I've been looking at several tyres (Yoko Ad08r, Federal RS-R and the new RS-RR, Nankang NS2-R) and was wondering if anyone has any advice on what they believe is the best of the bunch (Value wise as well as performance)

Secondly, the day ruined my matte black alloys, leaving me a few days work to bring them back to shape. Is there any downsides (apart from the loss of width and increased profile) to running the standard 16" alloys for trackdays and wrapping these in good tyres. If so should I go with the normal size 205/50 or go down a profile to 205/45.

Cheers (any spelling or grammar mistakes, blame the smartphone)

You might notice if the standard 16s are heavier - unsprung mass counts for a lot on track. Most of the tyres you've mentioned are rubbish road tyres, so this might help make your decision...

You should fit whatever are the cheaper of the options as far as size goes as your tyre consumption is going to rocket.

They're fun aren't they :D

What car you in? I've recently bought some 16" alloys for the track, which come in at 8kg versus the 17" standard alloys at 11.5kg each. I'm also looking into track orientated tyres such as the AD08 or 595 RS-R. Kinda leaning toward the AD08 as literally no one has anything bad to say about them. The only issue is the 595's are £30 a corner cheaper!

Mk3 mx5. I have the standard 16" enkei 5 spokes which are pretty light in the garage still.

RSR and NS2-r both seem great value
