**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

I can't see how people are saying the T1R doesn't feel that different to the F1 AS2?

Going from T1R to my PE2 was such a big difference I'll never go back. Now I have PS3,just a rename of the PE2, and everything pointing in the right direction I'm loving the silly levels of grip I seem to have created.

My mate slid through a red light the other night from 30 on his ditchfinders. I came across the same road with two extra passengers/no ABS and I managed to stop in about half the distance.

Really finding the f1as2 quite poor with the temperature around freezing. Wheelspin from a roll in second really not great. Strange how just a few deg difference and they seem to just switch off. Contisport don't have this trait and neither do AD08 for that matter.

Same here, haven't had 0° conditions yet, but I'm findings there just isn't any traction at all, and I'm getting wheelspin even in 4th. Thinking about putting the conti's on the front even though they have less tread!

Had new rears fitted today. Lethal until they are bedded in! I drive B roads at the moment which are covered in slime/mud.

The worn F1AS2s were much better so I can only blame release compound as new tyres will have more tread so should stay warmer.

We will see after a few more miles! These are very winding roads with a lot of height changes too. My main route is closed whilst they rebuild a bridge

I've had my Goodyear F1's on for just over a week now and they have transformed the drive in my Fabia vRS. They are a lot quieter than the Dunlop Sports Maxx I had on previously and they hold the road like glue, my drive to work is along windy country lanes. I've also noticed a sgnificant improvement in braking since the change, now it's smooth whereas before it felt like it was skidding, especially on a downhill section I always have to brake hard on cos people can't drive within the white lines! So far so good.

After reading around I'm thinking about putting 2 verdestein ultrac sessantas on the front of the mondeo (diesel estate) - 235/40/18 camskill has them at £96 each.

These days all I do are school runs and commutes (mix of motorway and town), but also 2 drives to France each year.

Want something that wears well, I found the Barums I had last to be poor, great performance but got less than 10k out of them.

Opinions on the vreds for those that have had them, or other options welcome :)

I'm no motorhead Fox, I was just considering the vreds as I'd never tried them. But those F1s are well priced.

You have raised another question I had been wondering about though, a few places I looked at seem to have 2 slightly different F1s, one says F01, the other doesn't. What's the difference?

A quick update on the Uniroayl RainSport 3s. After around a week of bedding in, around 100-200 miles they are working nicely.
Admittedly the tyres they replaced were Premium Contact 2s, which were right down to the limit, they are gripping very well in all conditions, I am even still alive after driving to work where the temperature was 0C ;)
So far so good, quieter than the Continentals, but not fare to compare as they were well worn.

As fox said its 'manufacturer spec' whatever that means (I've done a bit of googling but cant really find out what the differences between any particular manufacturer spec standard vanilla models).

I put some Audi (IIRC)spec tyres on mine because they were £4 a corner cheaper than the vanilla ones, I don't drive an Audi but I couldn't find any info on why to go for one over the other.

I've had a slow puncture in one of my rear tyres for a while, but keeping it topped up whenever I come to drive the car seems to have been fine so far (only drive at weekends) however I haven't driven for about 3 weeks and when I came to the car this morning I found the tyre completely flat. I reinflated it with a digital tyre inflator but when it was full again I saw a bit of a crack in it (see photo). Is this something to be concerned about? If so I guess it's new tyre time?
