**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Booo... my latest pair of Goodyears became a pair of Goodfortnights thanks to a massive pothole. Well, the driver side one at least

RIP Vetor 4 Seasons
6 Oct 2023 - 20 Oct 2023

Got a replacement going on this afternoon and will be taking a different route home until it is fixed as its almost impossible to avoid being right on a bend.

The sob story about claims coming out of their limited funds on the Norfolk County Council websites public liability page has only made me more intent to pursue a claim. This pothole has been reported, bodged and then opened up again multiple times. FIX IT PROPERLY and people won't need to claim

Just grabbed 4 x 19" Conti Sport Contact 7's for the sum of £609.84 inc fitting at a tyre fitter 5 mins drive from me, using that code on BC - saved about £100

Wow, that is very good. They seem considerably cheaper than the equivalent Michelin or Goodyear tyres. I don't really know why as the tyre tests all seem to suggest that they are as good if not better.

Yes, I thought it was a great deal with the BC discount. Did a lot of Googling between these and the PS4S you recommended as well as the Pilot Sport 5 and the Conti's indeed do seem to come out top in most reviews. I'm just going to be interested to see how the car drives without the Bridgestone RFT's on it :D Probably be prudent to grab a tyre inflator tin of puncture sealant stuff to keep in the boot - I have an inflator and a tin of puncture seal in my Z4 boot which 'touch wood' I've not needed to call upon yet. Plus, I'm an RAC member so if I get stuck, I can just give them a bell.

Did puzzle me that the rears at 255 width were less expensive than the fronts at 225. Would have thought wider = more rubber = higher cost?

Would be tempted to go for decent all seasons, since you're based in the North West.

Vector 4 All Season Gen 3 are typically the best in the wet and will do decent in icy/snowy conditions.

Rear tyres are the most important in a car, irrespective of whether it's front or rear wheel drive, since it's the back end which can slide out :-) Not sure if these are in budget though?

Only a Qashqai. Don’t want it to slide all over the place haha

Goodyear Vector 4 Season Generation3 215/55 R18 99V XL TL - £126.45

Continental Conti Premium Contact 7 215/55 R18 99V XL FR TL - £119.50

Just two examples (an all season and a regular summer tyre) to hopefully help. But if only replacing the rears I wouldn't just stick two all seasons on if the front was on summers personally I'd replace all 4.

They seem like good prices - I was looking around £110 for a budget tyre!

Are they from a specific fitter?

They were from an online tyre retailor - Camskill - who I believe are actually over in the north west. In that scenario you'd then have to pay for fitment at a local garage or have a mobile tyre fitter come to you. Mind, that usually still works out cheaper than buying through one of the main chains - but not always. I'd certainly rather pay £119 for the Conti Premium Contact 7 for example than a budget tyre. :)

When looking for prices, I generally compare Camskill, who sell you just the tyre, to someone like blackcircles, who will do the fitting too at a centre of choice.

Recommended companies to check:

F1 Autocentre
ATS Euromaster
Blackcircles
ASDA Tyres

You can always call your local indie as well to see if they can do anything on price :-)

Downside with the Qashqai, unless you have one of the older ones with it, lack of 4x4 and snow/off-road mode which is a shame, gonna be driving my 4x4 more if weather turns. One of the reasons I've leaned more to the Tiguan in the past.
