**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

How come only 1 tyre needs replacing? I'm assuming puncture or something along those lines.

What's the tread like on the other tyre? If it's going to need replacing in a few months anyway, just do it now.

Front left is only a few months old. Ran up a kerb and the last one punctured. Rookie error :o

So replacing both sides isn't really a favourable option and it's still almost new.

I'd say to go with same make of tyre as already fitted - pretty sure the general advice is always to have matched pairs on front and rear axles.

With different brands of same sized tyre actually having quite a bit of variation when measured I believe mixing brands can cause issues with ESP systems, maybe ABS too.

Need a couple of tyres for a Focus (195/60 R15). Obviously just standard driving about town and motorways every now and then. Black Circles is throwing these out, anyone recommend which are best? They are all roughly £60 a piece apart from the Dunlop and Goodyear which are £70.

Kumho - Ecowing ES01 KH27
Falken - Ziex ZE-914 Ecorun
Yokohama - BluEarth AE01
Hankook - Kinergy Eco K425
Dunlop - Sport BluResponse
Goodyear - EfficientGrip Performance

How much are ContiEco or PremiumContacts?

Continental PremiumContact 5 - £57.65 (Fuel Eff.: C Wet Grip: A NoiseClass: 2 Noise: 71dB)
Continental Eco Contact 5 - £57.75 (Fuel Eff.: B Wet Grip: B NoiseClass: 2 Noise: 71dB)
Continental PremiumContact 2 - £57.75 (Fuel Eff.: F Wet Grip: C NoiseClass: 2 Noise: 71dB)

Prices from Camskill so I would need the price of local fitting adding on. But they are probably still cheaper than the Goodyears. Any of those better than what has been suggested? The Goodyears seem the best in terms of the ratings (Wet Grip: A, Fuel Efficiency B)

Looking for some advice on the replacements for my Mk7 GTD.

Currently it has got 225/35/19 Pirelli P-Zero tyres on. They're ok (although the fronts have worn out pretty much after 15,500 which I think is a bit quick).

Looking at replacing them, they're a bit pricier than Dunlop SportMaxx RTs but these Dunlops seems to have better rolling resistance and better wet grip.

Anyone got any comments on the Dunlops? Tempted to go for these as I can get them fitted for £160 each on Blackcircles.

I'm struggling to find on my usual places some more tyres the same as I've got, which I quite like the way they handle on my car.

235/45/17 and 255/40/17, I've currently got Hankook Ventus V12 Evo, but Camskill don't seem to do Hankook tyres any more.

It's a fairly heavy (1700kg), permanent 4wd estate car. Used for local driving, motorways and occasional track/airfield days. My last 2 sets of Hankook tyres have lasted about 15,000 miles. I usually run 34psi front, 36psi rear.

Any other suggestions?

Thx

Went with 3 more of the same in the end. Car actually sounds quieter, though it might just be placebo..

It seems that the selection of 255/40/17 tyres is very limited in most places - the best I could find are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, but only with a load index of 94, and not the XL version (the 235/45/17 I could get in a 98 XL) - so will just have to see how these 94's go on the back.
