**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

The Hankook Evo's I have on the front of the Clio are pretty atrocious in greasy conditions now that they have worn somewhat, especially compared to the Goodyear F1 AS2's I've got on the rear. Time to change the fronts to F1 AS2s as well I think.

Bit of a big ask, want to get a 4 wheel alignment done on the slk now there's 4 new tyres on it. Anybody recommend anywhere in Stoke to get this done? Or am I best just taking it to a generic national tyres kwik fit place that offers it. Cheers.

Time to get my rear tyres replaced now later than I thought as I don't fancy letting them get to the wear marker at the time of year.

Think I was something like £240 last time just going through the usual blackcircles place direct. Seems if I can get them for £175 delivered from lovetyres and hope they come on Wednesday so I can find somewhere to fit them.

I get a load of road noise from the F1 AS2 but I've been putting it down to daft profile + daft suspension. They do seem really grippy in the dry but I've had some doubts when the nearside wheel spins with mild throttle in 2nd gear which leads me to another question.

As far as I can see the manual is saying 39f 36r which I've tried it and felt so solid. I've got it at 36f 33r the now but even then it could ride better. Kwikfit site suggest 33f 30r. For 225/40/18 92 XL which would be about right? Conti chart seems to recon 36f 33r for my size too.

Jonny, what car do you have?
I'd look at ContiSportContact 5s, or Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but those don't come cheap.

It's an Astra H 1.6 turbo with the Z16LET.

It's old SC2 on the back I'm changing, original ones going by the DOT code. They are worn and perished with 74k on them so some of my noise might be from those.

I ended up just pulling the trigger on two F1 AS2 last night from love tyres as I have to find somewhere to fit on Wednesday for doing a lot of driving and being 100 miles away on the next few days off.

I got aorund 40k on a couple of SC3's - 30k on the back and the last 10k of their life on the front.
The Conti's seemed to be hard wearing - the SC5's are a great tyre, but wear down considerably faster.

I missed out on the Love Tyres pricing as well - in my basket at the old price, they went "out of stock" and they told me they had cancelled my order to give me the best opportunity to source them elsewhere - in other words they couldn't honour that price.

So, shopping around - I'm getting 4x F1's, fully fitted for £395 fitted at F1 Autocentre.
Online price is £103 per corner fitted and I found an old 5% off code that still works, so pretty happy with that price - fitting on Tuesday next week.

I didn't personally. I was just going by the dot code being a week in 2008 and my car being a Jan 2009 build. I only got the car at 64,000 so don't know but they are pretty cracked looking too.

You can't use the DOT code like that. For example on one of my sets of wheels the tyres all have DOT codes of Week 10 2010 even though they were first fitted to the car in 2014..

That's not really good though is it?

I wouldn't want 4 year old tyres to start with. Any reason for having such old tyres hanging around?

They fitted a brand new set of wheels and tyres as part of the auc check. Presumably BMW ran a batch off for the F10 launch...

Just ordered some Hankook Icept W310's for a set of 16" rims that I bought on eBay for my S2000. I don't really need the tyres with the weather right now, but after my little scrape 2 winters ago I'm keen to avoid history repeating, especially as I don't have any other option than to drive into work. I figure I'll be able to swap the rims as and when needed and probably make any money back if and when I sell the car.

Just ordered a set of 4 Michelin PS3's in 195/50/15 from Black Circles for £202.78, used a 2% off voucher code plus TCB meaning £4.82 cashback to come as well yet (Every little helps!).

I can't wait to get them on, back my my nice non-buckled wheels, and also away from the quite franky scary budget tyres that are on my spare wheels.

Finished off my last set of Toyo's on a track day :D

Really looking forward to see how the Michelins perform.

Had the F1's fitted today - as above, all 4 for £395.
Cannot give any kind of review at this stage. These replaced the "on the limit" front and "just a little better" on the rear Conti SC5's.

I'll review as/when I do/Don't fall off the road into a ditch.
