Unreal Tournament news on the horizon!

Can't say I ever noticed any problems with it :s Always seemed as awesome before. Is this just something I'd only have noticed if I played at a high level non stop?

Should have been pretty obvious really. In previous games the shock combo exploded outwards from centre of the secondary. In UT3, it exploded backwards towards the shooting player, so the edge of the combo intersected with the secondary, but the combo explosion was centred well before the secondary. It was just wrong, and don't think Epic ever fixed it.
 
Face was never popular in competitive play (especially Instagib) as it just turned into a spam fest in the center of the map. The map also rewarded spawn killing to control the enemy base while your flag carrier legged it past the middle. Games tended to be very low scoring between evenly matched sides or stupidly one sided.

I recall a clanbase instagib cup game on Face that ended up lasting well over an hour till one side managed to get a flag back to there base.

Personally I loved the soundtrack to Face much more than the actual map. I hated playing it in official wars as did everyone else I knew. However I loved playing it on public servers and with Normal Weapons.

Movement has a really nice feel to it at the moment. I like the forgiving mechanic where you can pull yourself up a ledge to some extent with a loss of momentum (for want of a better way of explaining it) - much better than the classic "the bottom half of my boot wasn't high enough so I can't get up"
Also noticed that if you hold run it speeds up after a while rather than being a solid speed.

Current maps seem to have interesting layouts, plenty of places to make the most of wall dodges and the like. Can't wait to see how shiny they'll look in the new engine.

The whole way UT is developing with the community is amazing... I'm beginning to think when this hits it could be the go to FPS putting a few other titles on the back foot. Especially as it's going to be free:cool:

I think it will be good for everyone though as the: rinse, repeat, release cycle will require more effort when it comes to bugs etc (which seem to have plagued some recent releases not naming any franchises:o:p)
