Upcoming Concerts

Presale tickets went up today for the Rammstein tour next year. We were looking to go to Berlin, so logged in bang on opening time (via a server in germany) to be in a virtual queue, by the time we got to the front all standing tickets sold out and as we tried to get seated they sold out from under us.

New Tuesday date popped up and managed to get fire zone tickets for that, great!

But just looked on viagogo and tickets are being resold already for 3-4x price  Something needs to be done about these touts just fleecing music fans.

Saw Machine Head and Amon Amarth last night in Manchester - HO..............LY...........JEBUS!!!!!

Machine Head were as good as always but Amon......wow.....they just took things to another level with their stage show!

Multiple huge flamethrowers - Check
Indoor fireworks - Check
1 vs 1 Viking combat re-enactment during a song - Check
2x 30ft tall Viking Statues on stage - Check
Loki's stalking the stage and his Staff setting off various pyrotechnics - Errrr, Check
A 60ft Viking Long Boat on stage - Now hang on a second
A 60ft Sea Serpent then sinking the Long Boat - REALLY????
Singer using Mjölnir to fight the Sea Serpent - Ah why the hell not by this point!

It honestly was one of those gigs where the utter lunacy of the visual spectacle made the whole show so much better than expected and I'll definitely see them whenever their next headlining/own UK tour happens.

Marillion at Hammersmith end of the month and then Porcupine tree at Wembley Arena (or whatever its called currently) in November - not been there since one of my first ever concerts back in 2004 (!!) so I assume its changed a bit since then.

Had a ticket for Marillion Glasgow on Monday, last minute change, they are playing Tuesday now, presumably for Queens funeral.

Uriah Heep Glasgow on 30th, Brian Cox show 2nd Oct, then Roxy Music on 10th of Oct I think it is?

I hope they play UK again next year, saw them at Coventry, perfect weather, fantastic atmosphere !

Just saw Brian Cox on Monday, was a good show but I'm quite into Quantum mechanics and keep abreast of the latest news anyway so didn't particularly learn anything new. He does touch on some of the latest theories about the nature of space and time and whether it's an emergent property rather than a fundamental building block of nature. It's all about information rather than matter nowadays! :)

Visuals were great, he was on a stage in front of a HUGE bank of screens so it was pretty epic in that regard. I saw him on his last tour, so yes, this is new material. If you're not already sure about them look up things like the Black hole information paradox, holographic principle and space-time graphs which will help to understand what he is going on about.

Thanks, taking a new girlfriend and her daughter along, the Ladys do like Brian Cox :)

Question for regular concert goers. Do you take a burner phone of take your usual device with you.

I havent been to a concert for years, and always used to take a burner and not risk my expensive phone.

Question for regular concert goers. Do you take a burner phone of take your usual device with you.

I havent been to a concert for years, and always used to take a burner and not risk my expensive phone.

Burner phone = disposable phone?

I take my best phone and currently thats a Samsung Galaxy S20+5G and its not bad at all for concert stuff, does seem to have some shadow screen dots, but not after perfection, just an approximentation (is that a word?) digital memory's of my shows. Sometimes I take in a good compact camera too, currently a fairly high end Cannon, last one was a good Sony one and it was awesome, unfortunately dropped it off a small balcony at Glasgow last year, recovered it, but its telescopic lens is seized up, it had fantastic sound, better than this top of range Canon model for sure.

Looking to upgrade my Samsung S20+5G phone afore next years good shows, looking at Samsung S22 top range stuff, but perhaps for spring next year when there will be an S23 super duper model, we'll see as that's when my next beneficial upgrade will be due.

Was at Glasgow Hydro sort of back of arena before the steep balcony's build up, a fair bit back, been up front there too and you can get some great close ups of the artists. This DP on Saturday 22nd just past there for Deep Purple/BOC and this is what I got with my Samsung S20+, results are even better in daylight and can show vids I took at Rammstein Coventry this year if you like.
