Imagine if the races were reversed here.

There's no need to the same people in these forums have been told time and time again that white people are more likely to die than blacks in the US when you simply control for one of the most relevant factors in police contact deaths (being arrested for a violent offence).

It's simply that the media and activists concentrate on blacks killed by the police in the US for their own ulterior motives.

And this case doesn't (currently) appear to be like the case involving Jacob Blake as in the Blake case the cop has been re instated after the investigation cleared him of wrongdoing.

It might help if there was a groundswell of anger at the way that police act in the US, but then how could some people pretend to support the police out of sheer opposition if that were the case?

Honestly if the activists that usually turn up to BLM events would also protest apparently unlawful shootings against other groups (disabled persons, homeless, precariat America in general), then I think it would be less abrasive for folks who see there's an issue and are put off by the transient politics that surround the movement.

That Adam Toledo video. Just wow. That's indefensible.

When asked during a Thursday news conference at City Hall, Mayor Lori Lightfoot declined to say whether videos she has seen show the 13-year-old with a gun in his hand.

Police have said a 9MM Ruger was found along a fence next to where Toledo was shot

Anyone know what a 13 year old was doing with this guy?

Ruben Roman, 21, now faces felony charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, as well as child endangerment and violating probation, Chicago police said.

Nearby surveillance video captured the moment Roman fired shots at a passing vehicle while Toledo stood by his side on the corner of 24th Street and Sawyer Avenue early on the morning of March 29, according to prosecutors

Jesus Christ. Police officer asks him to put his hands up...he does as requested and bang shot in the chest. Trust the usuals to defend that. Just wow

The officer called for medical assistance and started performing chest compressions on Toledo, who died at the scene, authorities said.

The teen's right hand tested positive for gunshot residue, according to Murphy. Fired shell casings from near where Roman fired shots matched the 9-millimeter handgun that was recovered near Toledo, prosecutors said.
