Useful Freeware Utilities

I use mp3gain to normalize and increase the volume for my audiobooks. I've recently been using mergeMP3 to merge small files to one large one for my audiobooks. That program works great and it's fast. Each audiobook takes about 5secs to completely merge. Both progs are Freeware

Running both programs under Win7x64.

Just discovered SharpKeys

http://sharpkeys.codeplex.com/

Was using AutoHotKey with a script to remap some keys but this is far simpler for my needs and doesn't require any running processes.

I have a Filco TKL keyboard which is awesome but it has no media keys which would mean using either the taskbar or settings charm volume control or reaching under my desk to the sub woofer to change volume.

With SharpKeys just remapped 'PgUp / PgDw / End' to 'Vol Up / Vol Dw / Mute' respectively. Great utility IMHO.

I'm going to look at this. I've also got a Filco keyboard, albeit not a TKL model. I could use Scroll Lock to load up the Calculator. :)

I Created a Multiboot ISO USB using xboot i added the following ISO'S to the USB.

Memtest86: Memory Diagnostic Tool.
Seatools: HD Diagnostic Tool.
GParted: Partition Management.
Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10: scan, disinfect and restore infected operating systems.
Bit defender Rescue Disk: scan your computer for viruses same as kaspersky basically.
Trinity Rescue: Reset windows passwords, rootkit detection etc etc.

Could also use SARDU, YUMI, to make a USB recovery software.

freeware fans, if anyone could recommend a program for the below problem, it would be great!

I have a 3 monitor eyefinity setup, but sometimes I want to for example watch football on my furthest right monitor (full screen), play poker on the center monitor (full screen), and do something else on the left monitor. Is there an application which'll allow me to grid out my desktop so apps will run full screen within that grid?

Ive looked at ultra mon and a few others, but no joy. Think I need what Hydragrid offered, but seems it isn't available on the latest ccc.

Any help greatly appreciated

I put my Blu Ray in the drive yet I don't have a programme that will run it, VLC doesn't seem to want to either?

Unless I'm missing something really obvious.

I'm on Windows 8!

Because of the decryption needed for Blurays/HD media, the licences companies have to pay in order to be able to create media players capable of running HD/BR content are quite expensive. The customer has to pay quite a sizable fee as a result. Apparently there is something you can do with VLC as long as you download some files. I think the post before your 2nd post has a link to this.

Otherwise you're looking at Cyberlink PowerDVD or Corel WinDVD.

No probs. You can buy direct from Cyberlink but you'll pay a heavy premium. You can buy boxed versions from other online retailers and save yourself quite a bit of money.
